For this week’s , we’re featuring Anita Hopper of ReFind Originals! 👜✨

Anita gives old leather a new life, transforming discarded materials into one-of-a-kind, handmade bags.

What started with a thrifted leather jacket turned into a process of trial and error, and eventually the discovery of the possibilities of a new material.

Rather than starting with a specific design in mind, Anita lets each piece of leather guide her, using its stitching, pockets, and unique details as inspiration.

Anita’s story is a lovely reminder that it’s never too late to try something new. ♻️

A big thank you to Noblesville Creates for hosting the Creative Economy Pitch Night and for bringing our local arts community together! 🎨

We’re thrilled to have taken home 2nd place, along with $500 from Hamilton County Tourism to bring our idea to life!

Our goal is to make buying, displaying, and commissioning art feel more approachable through public presentations featuring artists, designers, curators, and appraisers.

Congratulations to Eric Thornbury’s Avant Guard project on winning both 1st place and the People’s Choice award! We enjoyed seeing the creativity shared by all seven artists and arts organizations who also pitched. We’re grateful to be part of such a creative and supportive community. ✨

For this week’s , we’re stepping into the imaginative world of Carrie Wild - Wildworks 🌿

Inspired by a love of the outdoors, stories, and mythology, Carrie creates intricate paintings that celebrate the beauty of the natural world, blending realistic details with imagination.

From tiny insects to birds and small animals, her subjects remind us that even the most overlooked creatures have a story to tell. Through her work, she hopes to inspire an appreciation for the natural world.

Her process begins by working first in pencil, which she then shades in with ink stippling and adds layers of water color for depth and detail.

Her work is available as original paintings, limited-edition giclée prints, and handmade greeting cards.

There's still time to catch the Hoosier Art Salon 🖼️

The 102nd Annual Hoosier Art Salon Exhibition is on view at the Indiana State Museum through October 24th, so there’s still a chance to get out and experience some incredible art!

We’re especially excited to see some of our very own Indiana Artisans featured in the exhibition, including Terry Armstrong, Janey Gregory, and Alan Larkin, alongside so many other talented Hoosier artists.

Cozy up with the creations of this week’s , Chris Gustin 🧶

Chris is a passionate supporter of the planet, specializing in reclaiming industry scrap fabric and repurposing it into art.

“I take products that used to be thrown away and then turn them into something beautiful, something you wouldn’t expect that product to become.”

She uses these reclaimed materials to create shaggy rugs, scarves, shawls, and more. Her rugs take their color and texture from pre-consumer waste created during the manufacturing of clothing and upholstery.

Chris credits the community of artists in Brown County as a key part of her success and is excited to continue growing her business as part of the Indiana Artisan program.

“There are a lot of Brown County and Monroe County artists who know how to work together,” she says. “I hope we can set an example. If you can present a unified front of high-quality, passionate pieces of art, you are going to have a following. No matter what art or food you make.”

For this week’s , we’re sharing Marsha Quarles of Marsha's Specialty Desserts & Tierney's Catering ! With fall in the air, we can’t think of a better time to highlight some homemade sweets. 🍰

For more than 30 years, Marsha has been baking and perfecting her signature pound cakes, bringing together family traditions, careful craftsmanship, and a little Hoosier hospitality in every batch.

For Marsha, the care that goes into each cake is just as important as the finished product.

“We use the freshest products to make our pound cakes. Small batches ensure the love, care, attention, and time poured into each one is noticed - from the smell, to the taste, to the presentation,” she says.

Marsha often thinks of special times spent with her grandfather when she bakes, and the idea of Hoosier hospitality - being warm, engaging, friendly, kind, and courteous to any person you encounter.

“We want all of those attributes to shine through our treats as well,” Marsha says. “We have worked hard for 30 years to carefully cultivate our products. It is really special to us to become a part of the Indiana Artisan family.”

Indiana Artisan Gifts & Gallery is about to launch an exciting transformation - ride the wave with us 🌊

A quick heads-up: We'll be closed Sept 28-30 as we adjust our shop. Starting Oct. 1, we will occupy only 20 N. Rangeline Road, the side of the building closest to Main Street.

While our space may be getting a little smaller, we will continue to honor our 18-year commitment to offer the best of Hoosier craftsmanship! You will still find a distinctly refined collection of art and food from more than 160 Indiana makers in our shop.

We are excited to create a fresh and inviting space that continues to showcase one-of-a-kind, handcrafted work of our consigning artisans.

And, of course, what better way to celebrate the new space than with a special 2nd SaturDate celebration on Oct 10! 🎉

For this week’s , we’re happy to feature Dan Sims!

With a background in botany and a lifelong interest in art, Dan brings together scientific observation and artistic exploration in his stained glass and marquetry work. His fascination with the patterns and structures of the natural world is at the heart of his practice.

Dan’s stained-glass pieces combine traditional techniques with an intricate process of his own. Along with shaping, foiling, and soldering individual pieces of glass, he cuts tree-branch patterns into copper foil and applies them to both sides of the panels. The result is a layered, dimensional effect that brings his designs to life.

“I create physical models in wood and glass that endeavor to capture the spirit of the natural world,” Dan says. For him, art is an opportunity to look beyond our assumptions and remain open to the world as it really is.

Then be sure to stop by Indiana Artisan Gifts & Gallery, where Carmel and University high school students will compete for scholarships. Two exhibitors will be given a People’s Choice Award, determined by the guests who visit our gallery.

This year’s show will be open Saturday from 10am-8:30pm & Sunday from 10am-6pm 🖌️

This exhibit is a part of the Carmel International Arts Festival, a grand tradition that brings visual and performing arts from across the country and around the globe to Central Indiana.

The festival also includes live music and dance performances on multiple stages, hands-on art activities, and a variety of food and beverage vendors.
