Cambridge Porchfest on Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, 2026, is a free, walkable, community musical event. Neighbors host musicians on their porches, in their yards or driveways, with the idea that anyone can come by and check them out. This year, Cambridge Porchfest will primarily take place in Cambridgeport, the Port, and Riverside neighborhoods.
How can I participate?
You can perform. All are welcome. Play solo or with a group, electric or acoustic, with instruments or a ca****la. We welcome all ages and styles and hope to celebrate the broad diversity of Cambridge.
You can host. Your porch, yard, or driveway can provide the stage. You can play, or you can host other performers - or both. Porchfest organizers will help connect performers and hosts.
You can volunteer. Help on the day of the event. Distribute maps and provide information to event-goers. Or help with some of the many details leading up to the day.

On Tuesday, our Public Art Commission toured public art at MIT, guided by Cassidy Westjohn. We visited Frank Stella’s “Loohooloo” (1994), Spencer Finch’s “Bring Me the Sunset in a Cup (2023),” Louise Nevelson’s “Transparent Horizon” (1975), Alicja Kwade’s “Against the Run” (2019), and Kenneth Noland’s “Here-There” (1985) in the Wiesner Building atrium.

Make sure to check out this incredible MIT public art collection, many pieces are open and free to explore. We were so glad to visit some of the works with the PAC, a nine-member volunteer commission that reviews every City of Cambridge Percent-for-Art project. Thank you to the PAC for joining and to MIT for such a thoughtful tour!
