Our Summer 2026 interns, Briana, Hami, and Diego, wrapped up their internships last week by organizing and hosting a cyanotype and bookbinding event!

Thank you to everyone who came out and joined us. We loved seeing all of the books you created and watching everyone experiment with cyanotypes.

Now Accepting Applications: PRC Fall 2026 Internships

The Photographic Resource Center is seeking interns for Fall 2026 to support exhibitions, social media, events, and gallery operations. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in a nonprofit photography center working closely with artists and programming.

📸 Technique Thursday: Self portraiture

Now known as a selfie, self portraits date back to as early as 1839 by Robert Cornelius, one of the earliest pioneers taking a portrait with daguerreotype! Although this is more of a genre and style of art that expands over all mediums of art, photographically its techniques are still innovatively applicable till this day. Self portraits’ vastness in ex*****on extends to its legacy.

Zachary Stephens (Zachary Garrett Stephens) adopts self portraits within an intimate family setting reflecting moments of fatherhood and family relationships captured in a second. Stop by the current EXPOSURES 2026 exhibition now to see his photographs in detail.

EXPOSURE 2026 is our 30th Annual Members’ Juried Exhibition, juried this year by Audrey Lee Sands, Richard L. Menschel Associate Curator of Photography at the Harvard Art Museums.

📸 We’re late by a day, but here’s this week’s Technique Thursday: Silver Gelatin Print

Dated as one of the best techniques for stability, silver gelatin prints was invented since the 1870s by a group of innovators, scientists, and photographers such as Richard Leach Maddox, Peter Mawdsley, George Eastman, Josef Marie Eder, Giuseppe Pizzighelli, and Sir William de Wiveleslie Abney.

This chemical white and black process has gelatin layers containing silver salts into a light sensitive emulsion. Its sharp and glowing appearance is seen in Bell Beecher Pitkin’s intimate print. Due to its arduous process, silver gelatin prints are a craft of its own!
