Though similar and often confused for one another, especially when soaring, the eggs of Turkey Vultures (Cathartes aura) and California Condors (Gymnogyps californianus) are very different. Turkey Vulture eggs are smaller and have splotches of black and brown while California Condor eggs are larger and are a light blue right after being laid that eventually fade to white. The California Condor egg is a replica to show the blue coloring.

Today, our new display was officially unveiled to the public! Our 2026 FIFA World Cup display is a tribute to the event using taxidermy live mounts and research specimens to represent each participating country. This display is a way to bring sports and nature together by highlighting the beautiful diversity of birds around the world through soccer teams! We had the immense pleasure of having Madam Consul General of Guatemala in Los Angeles, Patricia Santizo Consulado General de Guatemala en Los Angeles, CA visit from Los Angeles to officially unveil the display in a ribbon cutting ceremony! A big thank you to Madam Consul General as well as to and Walter Batres for your amazing support. This display will be up until the World Cup final (July 19th), so make sure to book a visit with us on our website so you don’t miss it!
