"Help...I'm Running Out of Space"

Feb 2, 2019 -- 11am to 4pm -- Studio D-2
Art Alley, Camarillo CA (directions below)

Paintings:
Those of you that have been in my studio know that I like to create a lot of different types of art. Lately I’ve been experimenting with several new mediums and I pretty much have no wall space left to display it all. Soooo I’ve decided to have a “Running out of Space” sale and reduce the prices on all my pastel paintings and a few other paintings. The sale will be held in my Studio D-2, located at the Channel Islands Art Center studio, Saturday Feb 2 from 11am to 4pm.

Jewelry:
I’ve also started to design a new style of jewelry and I’m out of table space to display it all. So I decided to include a few pieces of my jewelry in the sale. As most of you know I rarely put my jewelry on sale so come and take advantage of my lack of space to get a piece of my unique jewelry at a reduced price. Valentine’s Day is coming up. This would be a perfect time to treat yourself or buy a gift for a special some one.

Art Alley Artist "Red Tag Sale" Sale:
In addition to my studio D-2, approximately 11 Art Alley artists will also be holding sales on Feb. 2nd, which is also Studio Channel Island's Art Center Open Studios Saturday. Come by our Art Alley studios to find wonderful handmade art to fill your homes at reduced prices.

Directions:
Art Alley is located at the rear of the Studio Channel Islands Art Center campus (corner of 2222 E. Ventura Blvd and Elm Dr.) Entrance to the Art Alley is on Elm Dr., along with an Art Alley parking lot.
Map:
You can find a map is located on our “Art Alley Happenings, Camarillo CA” page. Like our page and check out upcoming events.

This image was created by removing the horse from the background and then combining it with a couple of textures. One of the textures I used was handmade (by me) and one was a purchased texture. All of the skills used in this image are covered in my upcoming “Pushing the Limits of your Creativity by Creating and Using Textures”, that starts Monday August 14th to Sunday August 27thth. If you’d like more on the information texture class, go to http://www.equinephotographers.org/courses/ .

I struggled with this image some so a lot of things were done to the image and a lot of things were added. I used several textures and added several filters to change the image into something I was happy with. I liked the gritty feeling the textures and contrast added to the image. I thought it went well with the story and cowboy’s expression.

My 4 week online “Photoshop (& Elements) Fundamentals” class starts this Sunday, Jan 8th, 2017. And all of these fundamental concepts used to create all of my images are covered in this class.

Cowboy in dust;
This image was taken on the Great American Horse Drive in Colorado. I combined several images and used several textures to add more dust and to give the image a feeling of movement. I also used additional colors, burning and dodging to emphasize the center of interest. Then I added some brush strokes to give the image a painterly look.
All of these fundamental concepts used to create all of my images are covered in my 4 week on-line Photoshop Fundaments class that starts Jan 8th, 2017.

The class includes a ton of written course material and links to video tutorials that demonstrate the steps in the course material. Although I teach through the Equine Photographers Network, this class isn’t limited to equine photographers or images. I have had many wedding, portrait, nature, and landscape photographers in my classes. In addition, the class is also open to traditional artists. Photoshop is a great tool for traditional artists too. I also paint in traditional oil paints and I use Photoshop in place of my sketchbook to design my paintings, create my value sketches and to create my line drawings. If you’d like to improve your Photoshop skills, learn how to composite images and textures and elevate your work to an “art” level, please join us Jan 8th for this 4 week on-line Photoshop class.

This image was created from several images taken on a ranch in Colorado. Most of my images are created from several images and textures. In addition, I use a lot of additional colors and burning and dodging to alter the light and to also attract the viewer’s eye to the location in the image that tells the story I’m trying to get across.
All of these fundamental concepts used to create all of my images are covered in my 4 week on-line Photoshop Fundaments class that starts Jan 8th, 2017.

When I photograph, I visualize what I want the image to be…not what it is. Then I photograph bits and pieces needed to make that vision a reality. This is a composite of some of the images shown below and more. In addition, I’ve added textures, hand-tinted color and color overlays. I used Photoshop to blend everything smoothly into the image I visualized when looking through the view finder. I design my images exactly like a traditional painter designs paintings…using the rules of composition and design and lights and darks to emphasize the center of interest and add impact.
