Haven't posted anything here for a long time, I refer people to my website www.JoeAdamsArt.com
Here is an update on the Public Art, sculpture garden project and sculpture I am currently working on.
The smaller of the 2 limestone blocks (4,500 lbs and 16,000 lbs) is Indiana Grey limestone and will be placed in the center of a labyrinth. Square steel "wireframe" gates designed using the Golden proportion rectangles and spiral connect the viewer to the nautilus design on the front and back of the sculpture.

New 30 x 30 inch oil painting "Marine 01 2018". Delivering this to the Amsterdam Gallery in Carmel, CA Friday 09-07-2018. Ask Tony or Becky to see it, if you drop in to the gallery on Dolores between 5th and 6th. (the gallery wrapped canvas is painted Prussian Blue and Ivory Black on the sides - good with or without a frame). Thanks Tony for your interest in exhibiting the Abstract Biomorphic Artworks!

After one of the recent storms, here on the coast of Oregon, I went out shooting rock textures in the rain, the color is not enhanced with Photoshop, the intense reds etc actually are what you see on these first 12 images.
The rock images, some of which incorporate fossilized remains, are part of an ancient sea floor that has been twisted and shaped by a recent basalt flow (about 15 million years ago). This basalt flow also created the Haystack rock in Cannon Beach and the Columbia Gorge.

The Saturday resident artist gig at the Ventana Inn Gallery in Big Sur has been going very well. Demonstrating technique under a bright blue sky, this watercolour was sold at signing.

Number 37 - was chosen for the 2015 California Open Exhibition
Juror Jim Morphesis chose 56 artworks from more than 1625 submissions received nationwide.
Artists’ reception and awards ceremony is on:
Saturday, August 15, from 5 to 8 pm

The exhibition runs from August 12 through August 28
Last year the juror for the 2014 Open was Laddie John Dill, he chose Number 6, this marks the 2nd year running!

Joe Adams Number 46 - completed June 13th, 2015 - a large graphite drawing on paper magnetically mounted to a 60 x 90 inch sheet of steel. This is the "sister entity" to Number 36, both are large, almost bird like, beings that have aspects of tidal zone geology and marine biology morphing in and out of their respective 3 dimensional structures.

The Sat June 13th, 2015 show at Ventana Inn Gallery in Big Sur, CA was successful event! Art Collectors and Interior Designers from LA and San Francisco were invited to a one day event at the gallery. Meeting people and talking to the other artists was great! Giant THANK YOU to Alfonso Corona, gallery director and Terese Garcia from the gallery for all their hard work, Donna and Karena from Ventana Spa for welcoming everyone to the event, the Scheid Vineyard and the staff at Ventana, they all did a fantastic job!!!
