It was a pleasure to connect with local business and community leaders at this week’s Montcross Area Chamber of Commerce after hours event.

Heather and Raleigh enjoyed hearing Belmont Trolley board member, Chris Christy, share the vision for the Trolley Barn and what it could mean for Belmont and Gaston County.

The project brings together several goals: preserving the story of the Piedmont and Northern Railway, creating a home for three historic trolley cars, supporting innovation through Belmont Trolley’s partnership with UNC Charlotte, and providing a place for the community to gather.

HELT Design is proud to be part of a project shaped by the commitment of so many local leaders and volunteers. Thank you to Montcross for a wonderful evening and to everyone who stopped by to talk with us.

We are excited to welcome our newest student team from UNC Charlotte College of Engineering to Belmont Trolley!

As part of Belmont Trolley's commitment to STEM education and workforce development, we are proud to sponsor this team as they take on their senior design project—putting their engineering education to work on a real-world transportation challenge.

Over the coming months, the students will work alongside our Board and volunteer team to complete the final touches on our battery cart, preparing it for the NC Innovation grant demonstration in April and, ultimately, for use in trolley operations once our new facility is complete.

This is what our STEM mission is all about: giving students the opportunity to move beyond the classroom and gain hands-on experience solving real engineering problems. And for us, it means bringing the next generation of innovation to Belmont.

Spending the day with business leaders, elected officials, economic development professionals and community stakeholders learning about the projects, investments and opportunities shaping Gaston County’s future.

Today, Belmont Trolley had the pleasure of welcoming Elizabeth and Richard from NRHS to Belmont.

They were passing through town after attending the America 250 celebration this past weekend at the N.C. Transportation Museum, and their visit turned into a wonderful connection to trolley history.

Elizabeth shared that she once provided tours of Trolley Car #30 when it was displayed in Victoria, British Columbia. That same car is now Belmont Trolley's Car #16! Robert also shared stories from his previous involvement with railways throughout the Charlotte area and across North Carolina.

It was a wonderful reminder that historic rail equipment connects communities—and people—across generations and across the country.

We look forward to welcoming Elizabeth and Robert back to Belmont when our trolleys are back on the tracks! 🚋
