🎶 Imagine walking through an art museum hearing a live piano performance…

Ethan Uslan () takes us on a journey with a curated piano performance. Uslan’s repertoire includes original arrangements of New Orleans Jazz, blues, and ragtime. He has performed worldwide, been featured in the documentary “The Entertainers” and whose jazz rendition of Bach’s “Minuet in G" was used in the AMC series “Interview with the Vampire”.

mupangilai is an interior architect, sculptural furniture designer, and educator based in New York, where she teaches at Parsons School of Design. Her practice examines cross-cultural identity, heritage, and the sociopolitical conditions embedded in art history and design through material-driven research and form. Mupangilaï will discuss how cross-cultural identity and heritage are represented in her furniture and material designs.

This month, create your own stylized word art with pencil and markers inspired by contemporary artist Jeffrey Gibson (). A vibrant expression of identity, culture, and memory, this striking piece blends the artist's Choctaw-Cherokee heritage, his q***r identity, and his one-of-a-kind approach to contemporary art.

Presented by Wells Fargo, the Contemporary Architecture + Designer Series brings together an inspiring group of globally recognized designers whose work pushes the boundaries of contemporary practice across disciplines and geographies.

Join us for the first presentation in the series: “Rhythms of Place: Improvisation, Archaeoastronomy, and Community Design” featuring Kyle Spence. Spence is a professor at UNC Charlotte and 2025 Gambrell Faculty Fellow who explores the “Place-Moment” connection to create socially responsive architecture. Recent projects include the prize-winning Mitchelville Heritage Trail proposal, the EarthArcs series, and EcoDome urban farming prototypes.

Other upcoming CAD Series speakers include world-renowned interior architects Kim Mupangilaï, Ini Archibong, and Florian Dach and Dimitri Zephir.
