Do gutter guards actually make a difference?

For homes surrounded by mature trees, they often do.

During this inspection, we found gutters filled with leaves and debris from heavy tree coverage. When water can't move through the gutter system properly, maintenance becomes more frequent and overflow becomes more likely during heavy rain.

Gutter guards won't eliminate maintenance completely, but they can:
• Reduce leaf buildup�
• Improve water flow�
• Cut down on routine gutter cleaning

Every home is different, but if your property has large trees like this one, gutter guards may be worth considering.

A properly functioning gutter screen should keep leaves and debris from clogging your gutters—not trap them.

In this case, the screen had been damaged, allowing debris to build up and reducing the gutter's ability to move water away from the home. The fix wasn't just removing the leaves—it was replacing the damaged section so the system could work as intended again.
