📊 Data Drop: New Research on Public Support for Arts Education

Arts education isn’t a luxury — the vast majority of us agree it’s essential.

Every month, Americans for the Arts partners with NORC at the University of Chicago to translate national public opinion into visual stories. This month, we’re sharing insights from a survey conducted in May, tackling a critical question: How do Americans view the future of arts investment and education?

After surveying 1,047 adults across the country, the data revealed an overwhelming 77% of Americans agree that arts education should be available to all students — from their earliest pre-K classes through higher education.

This latest Data Drop leaves no doubt: communities value arts learning for all, building a powerful case for public investment. 🎨

We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of our friend and colleague Nancy Glaser, Director of the Augusta Museum of History. We will be thinking of her family, and the community she educated and uplifted in so many ways.

It is with profound sadness that the Board and Staff of the Augusta Museum of History share the passing of our friend and Executive Director, Ms. Nancy Glaser. We will share memories and thoughts about Nancy and her immense impact in the CSRA over the next weeks.

Arrangements and services will be announced by Ms. Glaser’s family in the coming days.

Our studio is looking for a dependable Student Experience Ambassador to join our team on evenings and weekends. Our SEAs help create a great experience for every student who walks through our doors. You’ll check in students, get supplies to instructors, and help us keep our studio a clean, welcoming environment.

Our class calendar depends on student demand, so hours can range per week (approx 4-10). This is a great fit for someone who has a flexible schedule and wants to connect with the local art scene. Our SEAs make a meaningful impact for our nonprofit. If the position interests you, we hope to hear from you soon!

As our board meets today we recognize the passing of Patricia "Trisha" Sasnett, who was a longtime member of the GHIA Advisory Board.

She was an avid supporter of the arts who grew our organization as well as several other arts nonprofits in the Augusta Region during her tenure on our respective boards. We will be forever grateful for her service and spirit.

We are also grateful to Trisha's family for recognizing us in their wishes for honoring her memory, and for those who have made donations in her memory to the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art.
