YOU ARE INVITED!

Join us on Saturday, October 10th as we seal this time capsule in commemoration of Placer County's 175th anniversary. It will be filled with contributions that have been gathered from throughout Placer County, documenting life here in 2026.

Where: Placer County Museum/Historic Auburn Courthouse @ 101 Maple Street, Auburn CA.

What: Sealing a time capsule which will remain closed for 75 years, and opened in 2101.

The guest book for the event will be added to the time capsule so come be a part of history and join the celebration.

Activities:
10am - Free guided walking tour of Old Town Auburn available (starting at the courthouse)
12pm - Museum and courthouse grounds tours available
1pm - Official sealing ceremony begins
Following - Cupcakes and popcorn!

It's almost time for our annual Old Auburn Cemetery Tour! We're getting everything ready to make it the best tour yet. See you on Sunday, October 4th at 174 Fulweiler Avenue. The event runs from 11am until 2pm and it takes about an hour to see all the presentations.

Head's up museum goers! In an effort to get the most bang for our museum hour buck, and to better accommodate the schedules of our amazing docents, we are changing the hours at two of our museums. From Saturday the 26th onward, the schedule at the Bernhard Museum will be Tuesday through Sunday, 1pm to 4pm. The hours at the Gold Rush museum will be Thursday through Sunday from Noon to 4pm. Come by for a visit!

The annual Old Auburn Cemetery Tour returns this October, bringing some of Placer County’s most colorful characters back to life through costumed re-enactors stationed beside their graves. This free community event is presented collaboratively by the Auburn Cemetery District, Placer County Docent Guild and Placer County Museums.

Come celebrate the end of Heritage Trail this Saturday up in Foresthill! It's a great opportunity to get that last stamp you need or get your cards turned in for the prize drawing.

Watch blacksmiths craft period tools and household items. View exhibits on mining, Native American Heritage, the lumber industry, fires & firefighting on the divide and life here in the Victorian era. There will be a historical walking tour before noon of our town as well. Enjoy plenty of food and craft booths, hands-on activities for the kids and music will fill the air. Visitors may also witness the re-creation of history with the Interactive Entertainment group of notable outlaws and marshals who teach as well as perform skits about the heritage of the Gold Rush.
The Forest Hill Divide Museum combines the Heritage Trail with their town’s annual Heritage Festival, so come prepared for a full day of adventure.
