Mariella Bisson’s landscapes are built in layers, much like the places they depict.
Working from drawings and paintings made in the field, Bisson creates forests, waterfalls, and rock formations through a mix of oil, acrylic, paper, and collage. In her larger works, torn paper becomes part of the underpainting, adding texture and structure that echoes layers of rock, shifting light, and moving water.
Her work moves between abstraction and figuration, capturing not just a place, but the forces within it: gravity, light, shadow, and time.
Featured here are five works by Mariella Bisson. See them in person at Momentum Gallery, and send us a message to inquire.
