This painting is currently on display at Piccolina, a new, cozy Italian eatery in Asheville. See my artwork as you dine on delicious pizza, sandwiches, and wine, then buy it at Trackside Studios, both in the Aura building at 375 Depot St.

As this painting emerged, the firey color behind the trees in the center, near the bottom, looked like a campfire in the woods to me. My family camped together often in my high school years. Singing around a campfire is one of my favorite memories. Enjoy!!!

I don’t often share pictures of people and the art they buy, but this is Wren, who chose “Thunderstorm,” a print of a watercolor painting that matched her coloring so perfectly I asked if I could take her picture with the print. Then she told me why she loved it. Wren is Social media mgr for utility company. She says she will hang this in her office where she creates preparedness information for weather related events and tells the stories of the amazing people we are all so grateful for who restore our power in weather disasters such as Hurricane Helene. Light to every one of them. Touched my heart today.

Sometimes a painting starts as one thing and becomes another. When I saw “Riverview” reveal itself on my table, I put my brushes down and stared at it, feeling a memory of Riverview Theater, an art deco movie theater in South Minneapolis. It’s where I went with my Dad is see my first movie, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. When I hung it on my gallery wall, I heard other people conjure different emotions when gazing on this painting. Things like the Northern Lights, an amusement park, and more. But for me, I’m always walking into that theater with my Dad. What do you see? Feel? Remember?
