🇺🇸🏡 One Community. Two Celebrations. One Story. 🎉

Did you know that Almont Homecoming is only held once every five years?
Since 1909, Homecoming has been a special tradition that invites those with Almont roots to come back home, reconnect with old friends, share memories, and celebrate where they came from. It’s a chance to honor our past and the generations who helped shape our community.

Heritage Festival, on the other hand, is our annual celebration of who we are today- a weekend filled with community pride, local businesses, entertainment, traditions, and everything that makes Almont such a special place to call home.

Together, these two events tell the complete story of our community.

Russ Lovell’s Almont Elevator ad from 1960.
Do you have some old Almont Times-Herald newspapers? We would love to scan them for the community to enjoy.

We would like to thank Gerald “Jerry” Paeth for contributing his memories on growing up on Branch Street between 1943&47.
He hasn’t changed a bit! We have recorded some of his memories in our membership monthly newsletter (May and June copies).

Did you grow up in Almont? Any era will do. We are a museum that collects history-that includes YOURS!

What was your neighborhood like in the 1990s, 1970s, 1950s??? How about walking to Bowman Drugstore? Did you attend the beautiful Congregational Church ?

đź‘€ Have you ever walked through Almont Community Park, noticed this marker, and wondered what it was?

Turns out, it marks a time capsule connected to Almont’s 1976 Bicentennial Homecoming celebration! After being “lost” for years, information about the time capsule’s location was rediscovered in the Almont Library’s Genealogy Room in February. It included instructions stating it was to be opened in 2026 — almost like it was waiting to be rediscovered just in time for Homecoming and America’s 250th Anniversary!

This August, the Almont Historical Museum will unearth the capsule and unveil its contents during Almont Homecoming.

What do you think might be inside?
