We are a volunteer organization totally funded through our memberships, donations, grants and the events we hold throughout the year. We maintain and operate two museums, The Bancroft-Stranahan House, The Clyde Craig Blacksmith Shop, and an Arts & Archive Center. These buildings are part of our area history where you can learn about our past through exhibits and artifacts.

The 2026 Christmas ornament is here! 🎄🔔 This year’s design celebrates the John Borland and Wife Residence, built circa 1855.

The home features classic Greek Revival details. While additions over the years include a Colonial Revival porch, much of its original facade remains unchanged.

For more than 50 years, the current owners have lovingly cared for the home and honored its history.

Add to your collection or start a new holiday tradition! Ornaments are available now (during hours) at:
1. 290 N Main Street
2. MJC Antiques
3. Town Hall Antiques
4. Four Corner’s Diner
5. romeohistoricalsociety.org

The Alling Family graciously opened their doors for a fall historic home tour. Dressed in Halloween costumes, The Historical Society welcomed around 150 people with a summary of the home’s history and architecture at the door. This 1908 Colonial Revival has been Steve and Jan’s home for over 50 years. The Historical Society is grateful for their generosity to the community - having been on tours over the years and even getting our blacksmith shop up and running in the past.

The Pumpkin House was a real treat. 🎃
