Focus on George Cannon! George has been a photographer for more than 50 eyars. His photographic work varies across many subjects, always striving to act as a witness to how we live, the mark we leave on the planet, and seeking to find beauty in the everyday so often ignored. His digital abstract work explores color, design, movement, and emotion, derived from and inspired by his photographic images. George’s elegant images range from Mid-Century Modern abstraction to urban landscapes and street photography. They are part of New Mexico Cancer Center’s current exhibition The Architecture of Beauty – Works by Well-Known New Mexico Artists through November 20. Focus on John Bumkens! John Bumkens has been a recycle artist for more than 20 years, working primarily with found sheet metal and collections of vintage ephemera such as clock parts, radio innards and collections from estate and yard sales. John cuts and shapes the metal then paints and embellishes each piece. Each unique piece tells its own story derived from the resources he uses. John’s fun and funky mixed media metal wall sculptures are part of New Mexico Cancer Center’s current exhibition The Architecture of Beauty – Works by Well-Known New Mexico Artists through November 20. Focus on Lisa Avila! After a 30-year career in the horse industry followed by a move to New Mexico, Lisa returned to her love of painting. the landscape with brilliant color and energy which often results in semi-abstract images. She occasionally infuses her paintings with personal symbolism. Lisa’s bright and joyous paintings are part of New Mexico Cancer Center’s current exhibition The Architecture of Beauty – Works by Well-Known New Mexico Artists through November 20. What a great reception we had yesterday afternoon!!!! Thank you everybody who came out to support our artists, the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation and our patients in need! Only a couple of days until the opening of our newest exhibition “The Architecture of Beauty - Works by Prominent NM Artists” Did you know that 40 % of our art sales go to the New Mexico Cancer Center Foundation, a non-profit organization raising funds to alleviate non-medical needs for cancer patients? It is difficult enough to struggle with cancer, and the NMCCF makes sure our patients keep their lights on, have money for gas and utilities, and we even help with mortgage payments.
