แสงเป็นได้ทั้งสัญญะของสภาวะความเปี่ยมปัญญาขั้นสูง เหนือไปกว่าโลก พ้นไปสู่จักรวาลแห่งการหลุดพ้น หรืออาจเป็นแสงแห่งการทำลายล้างที่ซึ่งนำมาซึ่งการสูญสิ้นของสรรพสิ่ง จุฬญาณนนท์เล่นแร่แปรธาตุความคิดของเขาจากสภาวะของอวิชชาหรือความไม่รู้สู่เครื่องดักยุงพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์ แปลงสว่างของอาทิตย์ให้เป็นแสงอิเล็คทรอนิคส์ แต่แสงไม่ได้เพียงดักยุงหรือแมลงที่หลงผิดคิดไปว่าเป็นแสงแห่งความหวัง ดังที่มนุษย์เองก็ดูเหมือนจะถูกหลอกล่อเข้าในวงล้อแห่งแสงไฟ หลงเข้าไปในกับดักแห่งรัฐเพราะเห็นต่าง เพราะเชื่อในอิสระทางความคิด บางสว่างจึงเป็นดังกงจักรแห่งการบดขยี้ที่ชี้เป็นชี้ตายให้กับเราทุกคน

Light can symbolize enlightenment, transcend the world, and reach toward a universe of liberation. Yet light may also signify destruction, bringing about the annihilation of all things. Chulayarnnon transforms his ideas through a kind of conceptual alchemy, moving from a state of avijjā—ignorance or unknowing, to a solar-powered mosquito trap, converting sunlight into electronic light. But this light does more than lure mosquitoes and insects that mistake it for a beacon of hope. Neither do humans seem to be drawn into this cycle of light, lured into the state's traps for thinking differently, for believing in freedom of thought. Certain forms of illumination thus become like a mechanism of power that brings death to us all.

เมื่อ Creative Writing ถูกนำมาใช้เพื่อสนองตอบการทำงานวรรณกรรมสร้างสรรค์ของศิลปิน จึงเกิดเป็นห้อง "จดหมายถึงน้อย" ที่มีผลงานของอังคาร กัลยาณพงศ์ ควบคู่ไปกับการนำเสนอแนวคิดคู่ขนานในชื่อ "บทกวีจากน้อย"

When Creative Writing becomes a way to respond to and engage with an artist’s literary practice, it gives rise to the "Letter to Noi" room, where Angkarn Kallayanapong’s original works are presented alongside a parallel interpretation titled "Poems from Noi".

This video explores the ideas behind the work of Jirat Chalermsanyakorn, one of the literary scholars invited to contribute his interpretation to ถ่านเถ้าและกลายกลับ | Ash and Alteration. The exhibition is on view at JWD Art Space through 25 October 2026.

บางครั้งการสลายไม่ได้หมายถึงการถูกทำให้หายไป แต่เป็นการรื้อถอนโครงสร้างเดิมเพื่อกลายไปเป็นสิ่งใหม่ เพื่อให้ทุกอย่างยังดำเนินต่อไป หรืออาจเป็นการเดินย่ำบนซากปรักหักพังเพื่อทวนถามถึงอดีตและจินตนาการถึงอนาคต เช่นเดียวกับอังคาร กัลยาณพงศ์ ที่แม้จะจากไปแล้ว แต่ผลงานของเขายังคงอยู่ และถูกนำมาขยายมุมมองจากการตีความใหม่

โดยในนิทรรศการครั้งนี้ จุฬญาณนนท์ ศิริผล และ ธาดา เฮงทรัพย์กูล ได้ย้อนรอยความคิดทางพุทธปรัชญาและอุดมคติเกี่ยวกับธรรมชาติในงานของอังคาร ผ่านการทดลองเชิงรูปแบบและการขยับเคลื่อนจากภูมิทัศน์เดิมไปสู่พื้นที่ใหม่ จากภาพแห่งอุดมคติไปสู่ความเสื่อมสลาย จากแสงสว่างทางปัญญาไปสู่แสงแห่งการทำลายล้าง ซึ่งกำลังเชื้อเชิญให้ผู้ชมมารับประสบการณ์เหล่านี้ด้วยตนเอง

Sometimes, dissolution does not mean disappearance, but rather the dismantling of an existing structure to become something new. Things disintegrate so that other things and beings may continue. Or perhaps dissolution is the act of walking upon ruins, of retracing the past while imagining the future. The same can be said of Angkarn Kallayanapong. Although he is no longer with us, his works remain, opening up new perspectives through acts of reinterpretation.

In this exhibition, Chulayarnnon Siriphol and Tada Hengsapkul revisit the Buddhist philosophy and ideals of nature that permeate Angkarn's work through formal experimentation and a movement away from familiar landscapes toward new territories, from idealized visions to decay, from the light of wisdom to the light of destruction, inviting viisitors to encounter and experience these for themselves.

เมื่อแยกกันอยู่ วัตถุจดหมายเหตุประเภทเครื่องเขียนแต่ละชิ้นทำหน้าที่ต่างกัน ดินสอที่เหลาจนแหลม แท่งเกรยองที่ใช้จนทู่ พู่กันที่เก่าจนหักวิ่น แต่เมื่อทั้งหมดอยู่รวมกันได้กลายเป็นภาพเหมือนของอังคาร กัลยาณพงศ์ หากพิจารณาเข้าไปใกล้ยิ่งขึ้น สิ่งเหล่านี้ต่างประกอบสร้างจากเศษเสี้ยวความเคยมีอยู่ของเขา เหมือนกับที่ตัวตนของเราล้วนหล่อหลอมจากหลายสิ่งหลากเหตุการณ์ในชีวิต และเมื่อมองจากระยะใกล้-ไกลที่ต่างกัน ภูมิทัศน์ความคิดจึงอาจเปลี่ยนไปตามแต่ประสบการณ์ของแต่ละบุคคล

When viewed separately, each archival writing tool serves a different function - whether a finely sharpened pencil, a piece of crayon, or a broken paintbrush. Yet when brought together, these objects form a portrait of Angkarn Kallayanapong. On closer inspection, each is a fragment of what once belonged to him, collectively reconstructing traces of his presence. Like each of us, shaped by many things that make up our lives. Viewed from different distances, the landscape of thought may shift with each person’s experiences.

จุฬญาณนนท์นำซากยุงและแมลงจำนวน 12 ตัวที่ได้จากเครื่องดักยุงพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์ซึ่งติดตั้งไว้ที่หอจดหมายเหตุและผลงานของอังคาร กัลยาณพงศ์มาบันทึกด้วยสารเคมี “ไซยาโนไทป์” ซึ่งเป็นสารเคมีที่ทำปฏิกิริยากับแสงยูวี ให้ปรากฏเป็นซากร่างที่จะมีร่องรอยอันเป็นนิรันดร์แทนที่จะให้หายสาบสูญไปตามการเสื่อมสลายทางกายภาพดังเช่นสิ่งมีชีวิตทั่วไป จุฬญาณนนท์ปล่อยให้แสงอาทิตย์ร้อนแรงรวมแสงและลอดผ่านแว่นขยายชิ้นจริงของอังคาร จนเกิดเป็นรอยไหม้ทรงกลมบนกระดาษที่ใช้สร้างสรรค์งาน

เมื่อเปรียบเทียบเชิงปรัชญาในวรรณกรรมของอังคาร ในขณะที่แสงอาทิตย์จากงานของอังคารเชื่อมโยงกับสัจธรรมหรือพลังอำนาจที่กำจัดอวิชชาหรือความไม่รู้ให้หายไป ซากแมลงที่หลงมาติดเครื่องดักแมลงพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์เปรียบเป็นดังตัวแทนของอวิชชา ด้วยไม่รู้ว่าจะนำพาตัวเองไปสู่ความตาย จนเมื่อวิญญาณของเหล่าแมลงทั้งหลายออกจากร่าง ก็ได้ไหลวนไปในจักรวาลของสังสารวัฏ

Chulayarnnon uses the remains of twelve mosquitoes and insects caught by a solar-powered mosquito trap installed at the Angkarn Kalayanapong Archive and Collection, recording their bodies through the chemical process of cyanotype. In doing so, their remains are given an enduring trace rather than being allowed to disappear through physical decay, as living organisms ordinarily do. The recording process itself relies on a reaction with sunlight. Chulayarnnon allows the intense rays of the sun to be concentrated through Angkarn’s actual magnifying glass, producing a circular burn mark on the work.

In relation to the philosophical ideas found in Angkarn’s writings, sunlight in Angkarn’s work is associated with truth or a force capable of dispelling avijjā—ignorance or the absence of knowledge. The insects unknowingly drawn into the solar-powered trap may therefore be seen as embodiments of avijjā, unaware that they are being led toward their own death. As their spirits leave their bodies, they enter the ceaseless cycle of saṃsāra, circulating through the universe of birth, death, and rebirth.

When considered in relation to the current social and political situation, however, this notion of truth or power takes on a different meaning. The justice of the sun’s power to eliminate the insects—or avijjā—is itself called into question. The remains of the insects no longer represent merely the ignorance that has been eradicated; instead, they become victims of a power they are unable to resist, deprived of any right or voice with which to express themselves. What remains is only the sound of an electric shock, silencing the victims at the very moment of their death.
