The Intan is a collection of all things Peranakan, and more. It is an ambitious attempt to reconcile the beauty of the past into a modern home setting. It is also an aspiration to find creative ways of yielding otherwise purely decorative and beautiful artifacts a new lease of life. I hope The Intan will give you some insights to the bygone chapters of the Peranakan Culture. The Intan is an indepe

ndent cultural and social space in Singapore, serving as an open platform for examining and promoting Peranakan culture and connecting people. Visit is strictly by appointments only.

We’re delighted to share that The Intan has been featured in the July–September 2026 issue of Travel Weekly in their special feature, “Faces of Passion.” ❤️

For us, The Intan has always been more than a place to visit. It is a labour of love — a celebration of Peranakan culture, heritage, stories and the people who keep these traditions alive.

To be recognised alongside so many passionate people in travel is truly an honour. We’re grateful to Travel Weekly for shining a light on our little labour of love and for sharing the story of The Intan with your readers.

Here’s to keeping our heritage alive, one story, one meal and one experience at a time. 💕

“For me, a pattern is like a medium or a vehicle – to spark a conversation, evoke an uplifting mood, recall a memory, or simply bring a smile to someone’s face,” said the 50-something Tay, who likens the process of designing a print to writing a book.
