“A lot of seniors are afraid of classroom learning because they find it unapproachable,” says Thomas Kuan, Co-founder of lifelong learning platform The University of the Third Age (“U 3rd Age”) in Singapore, “but Reunion sessions are friendly and open to anyone with a passion for learning.”

U 3RD AGE and Reunion’s Seniors-Meet-Seniors (SMS) Knowledge Café is a platform for peer-led conversations and small-group learning sessions among seniors. SMS Knowledge Café is one of several Reunion partnerships that aim to help seniors reconnect with the past and share experiences with each other.

Thomas’s daughter Carol, U 3rd Age’s Co-founder, finds endless inspiration in the lifelong curiosity of her father and other seniors who attend U 3rd Age’s Reunion engagements.

“If I lost my father in a shopping mall, I know I’d find him at the bookstore,” she says, “Although I am amazed by his knowledge, he always has more appetite to learn.”

The Art of Ageing celebrates the pioneering years of Reunion. Look out for our ongoing senior programmes at alternative spaces in the museum, as Reunion Social Space takes a temporary hiatus until mid-2027 due to museum restoration works.

Visit go.gov.sg/nmsreunion to learn more about how Reunion brings The Art of Ageing to everyone.
