🎧 “What if, instead of studying history, we start to produce it?”

In the audio guide for “House of Nisaba: New Stories of Painting”, many of the artists speak about their works in their own words. Some recordings were made in studios, others on mobile phones, carrying traces of different places, voices and ways of thinking.

Here, Mikołaj Sobczak reflects on q***r histories, friendship, mythology and resistance through his painting ”Parole, Parole, Parole”.

🎨 Tomorrow we open “House of Nisaba” at Moderna Museet.

Across the museum, paintings, architectures and imagined worlds are taking shape. Twenty-nine international artists come together in an exhibition where mythology, storytelling, digital culture and contemporary painting collide.

Many of the works have been created especially for this exhibition.

“House of Nisaba” explores what painting can be today, in a time shaped by endless feeds, fractured narratives and shifting realities.

Tomorrow, you can also meet several of the participating artists during a live conversation marathon at the museum. Free admission, drop in throughout the day. The programme will also be livestreamed on our Facebook and YouTube channels.

🧵✨ Two days to go.

Soon, Anna Casparsson’s embroidered worlds open at Moderna Museet.

With silk, velvet, pearls, sequins, shells and gold thread, she created magnificent and wilful works inspired by fairy tales, biblical stories and classical music. Textiles that move freely between art and craft, intimacy and imagination.

“The Isle of Bliss” presents twenty-nine works at Moderna Museet for the first time since 1960.

The exhibition opens this Saturday, but you’re welcome already tomorrow at 18.00 for the opening night.

Most people miss this.

Behind one of the works, there’s a hidden world of motors, lights and moving paper figures. A kind of mechanical shadow theatre, quietly running just out of sight.

It started with a simple moment. Car headlights passing through a studio, turning hanging paper into something that moved like film.

Take a closer look next time you visit.

🇫🇷 Paris by night is taking shape inside the museum.

Soon, Brassaï’s photographs of 1930s Paris fill the galleries. Streets, staircases, bars and night wanderers, captured in the light of street lamps.

This Saturday, the exhibition opens.

🎤 “Excuse me, could I ask you a question?”

We stopped a visitor in the exhibition ”Late Picasso” and asked if any painting had caught his eye more than the others.

He walked us into the next room and pointed straight at this one.

“I like the energy. The black. The contrast.”
“It feels almost overworked… like he spent too much time on it. I appreciate that.”

What caught your eye when you were here?

🪑 “I’m not a historian. I’m not a real archivist. I’m an artist.”

For Karol Radziszewski, the archive is not a closed room. It’s a starting point.
Through colour, pop aesthetics and accessible forms, he invites us in. Not by forcing facts, but by guiding us toward them.

In this short interview, Radziszewski shares how he uses seduction as a method. Drawing us in with beauty, and leaving us with questions.

His exhibition ”The Classroom” turns school desks into archives, portraits into conversations, and history into something alive and shared.

📚 Opens Saturday: the classroom, rewritten.

What if the portraits on the walls weren’t kings, generals or Nobel laureates, but q***r icons, forgotten figures, and chosen family?
What if the desks held stories that never made it into the textbooks?

On Saturday, Karol Radziszewski’s ”The Classroom” opens at Moderna Museet.
A full-scale reconstruction of a Polish schoolroom, transformed by years of archival work, artistic imagination and lived experience.
An exhibition where history isn’t something distant. It’s something we carry, question, and reclaim.
