VÅREN GÅR I ANNIKA VON HAUSSWOLLFS TECKEN
I vår är Annika von Hausswolff aktuell med flera verk ur Magasin III:s samling. Fotografiet Domestic Sculpture visas i Familjen – på gott och ont på Sven-Harrys Konstmuseum. På Östergötlands museum ingår de tre verken Eyewitness, Ögonvittne och Hey Buster! What Do you Know About Desire? i utställningen Best in Show.
Magasin III:s arbete med Annika von Hausswolff sträcker sig tillbaka till 90-talet. Nyligen hemkommen till Stockholm efter många år i New York kom museets medgrundare David Neuman först i kontakt med von Hausswolffs bilder. Där och då stod det klart att Magasin III skulle uppmuntra och stödja hennes konstnärskap.
Idag förvaltar Magasin III en av världens mest omfattande samlingar av Annika von Hausswolffs konst. Ett femtiotal verk ur samlingen visades i separatutställningen Ich Bin Die Ecke Aller Raüme år 2008, tillsammans med en storskalig installation skapad särskilt för Magasin III. Vi är stolta över att ha bidragit till att uppmärksamma Annika von Hausswolffs konst genom åren och över vårt fortsatta arbete med hennes konstnärskap.

IT’S ANNIKA VON HAUSSWOLFF SEASON
This spring, Annika von Hausswolff is in the spotlight with several works from Magasin III’s collection featured in upcoming exhibitions. Domestic Sculpture is on display at Sven-Harrys Konstmuseum in Family – For Better or Worse, while Eyewitness, Ögonvittne and Hey Buster! What Do You Know About Desire? appear in Best in Show at Östergötlands museum.
Magasin III’s engagement with von Hausswolff dates back to the 1990s, when the museum’s co-founder David Neuman first encountered her photographs. From that moment, Magasin III has supported her artistic practice.
Today, Magasin III holds one of the world’s most extensive collections of her work. In he 2008 solo exhibition Ich Bin Die Ecke Aller Raüme, we presented around fifty of her photographs from the collection, alongside an installation created specifically for Magasin III. We are proud to have contributed to bringing attention to von Hausswolff’s practice over the years and of our continued work with her art.

Bara två helger kvar!

Missa inte chansen att uppleva Pipilotti Rists banbrytande audiovisuella installation Tyngdkraft, var min vän! på Accelerator i Stockholm. Utställningen pågår till den 8:e februari.

Verket har berört många – både när det skapades för Magasin III år 2007 och på Accelerator under hösten, där det gjort avtryck på nya generationer konstälskare. Tyngdkraft, var min vän! presenteras på Accelerator genom ett lån från Magasin III:s samling.

Just two weekends left!

Don’t miss your chance to experience Pipilotti Rist’s groundbreaking audiovisual installation Gravity, Be My Friend! at Accelerator in Stockholm. The exhibition runs until February 8.

The installation has resonated with viewers – both when it was first produced for Magasin III in 2007 and at Accelerator this fall, where it has reached new generations of art lovers. Its presentation at Accelerator is made possible through a loan from Magasin III’s collection.

It’s a wrap!

In 2025, nearly 100,000 people engaged with Magasin III—either through works from our collection on loan to other museums, or at our own exhibition space in Jaffa, Tel Aviv.

We are very proud to keep creating meaningful encounters between art and audiences, and to let the works in our unique collection continue to inspire and challenge.

IDENTITY, MEMORY AND VISUAL POETRY IN ASAD AZIS PAINTINGS

In his Carpet series, Jaffa-based Druze artist Asad Azi weaves together Arabic carpet traditions with a visual language inspired by modern art. For Azi, the carpet serves as a space where his Palestinian identity, memory, and visual poetry meet.

Two new works from the series – Red on Blue (2025) and Unstable Ground (2025) – are now on view in the bookstore at Magasin III Jaffa.

Since its launch in 2022, Magasin III Jaffa Books supports local Palestinian and Israeli artists by selling artist books. Earlier this fall, the bookstore joined Magasin III’s exhibition space in Jaffa under the same roof. Together, the two venues will form a local hub for culture and dialogue, with a particular emphasis on local voices. This year’s public program has included a series of workshops exploring the relationship between art and political imagination.

Magasin III Jaffa collaborates closely with other local cultural initiatives, including , a newly opened gallery run by Palestinian curator Rula Khoury, and the , a shared space for creativity, art, and community engagement, bringing together Christians, Jews, and Muslims.

Vår kräfta är ute på vift!

I Magasin III:s samling ingår verket på bilden - HERMIT CRAB IN FAKE ROYÈRE (2010) av den tyska konstnären Cosima von Bonin. Det föreställer en eremitkräfta som vilar i en imitation av en trädgårdsstol som ursprungligen formgavs av designern Jean Royère år 1958 åt prinsessan Shahnaz, dotter till Shahen av Iran.

Från den 9:e oktober har du chansen att möta kräftan öga mot öga på konsthallen Raven Row i London, dit den rest tillsammans med sin stol för att delta i utställningen Upstairs Downstairs.

Magasin III:s unika konstsamling utgör idag verksamhetens hjärta. Vi arbetar aktivt med att fortsätta göra konsten i samlingen tillgänglig för allmänheten, bland annat genom utlån av verk till andra konstinstitutioner. HERMIT CRAB IN FAKE ROYÈRE är ett av flera verk av Cosima von Bonin som ingår i samlingen.

Our hermit crab is out on an adventure!

HERMIT CRAB IN FAKE ROYÈRE (2010) by Cosima von Bonin is part of Magasin III’s collection. The sculpture represents a crab resting in an imitation of a garden chair originally designed in 1958 by the renowned Jean Royère for Princess Shahnaz, daughter of the Shah of Iran.

From October 9, you can meet the crab face to face at Raven Row in London, where it has traveled with its chair to participate in the exhibition Upstairs Downstairs.

Today, Magasin III’s unique collection is at the heart of our work. We are committed to making art from the collection available to a wider audience, through initiatives such as collaborations and loans to other institutions. HERMIT CRAB IN FAKE ROYÈRE is one of several works by Cosima von Bonin in the collection.

TACK DAVID NEUMAN!

David Neuman, grundaren av Magasin III Museum for Contemporary Art, går nu i pension från institutionen.

I samband med Davids pensionering välkomnar vi Sandra Weil som ny chef.

1987 slog Magasin III upp portarna i Stockholms frihamn. Under Davids ledning har museet under åren som gått sedan dess utvecklats till en enastående och alldeles unik institution för samtidskonst som förändrat Sveriges konstscen i grunden.

THANK YOU, DAVID NEUMAN!

David Neuman, the founder of Magasin III Museum for Contemporary Art, is now retiring from the institution.

With his retirement, we are delighted to welcome Sandra Weil as the new director.

Magasin III opened its doors in Stockholm’s former Free Port in 1987. Under David’s leadership, the museum has grown into an outstanding and truly unique institution for contemporary art, reshaping the very foundations of Sweden’s art scene.

Sandra Weil will now lead Magasin III into a new era. Read more on our website – link in bio – and stay tuned here for more news.
