In her acrylic and mixed media paintings, Rosângela Dorazio explores transformation and the relationship between the human condition, spirituality, and nature. In the final works, a certain mystery remains, the actions that led the image to its current state are not fully revealed, shaped instead by continuous gestures of making and unmaking.
Her practice investigates human condition, risk, and impulse. With each engagement with matter, multiple temporalities emerge: past, present, and the projection of a future free from pain and suffering. This process unfolds as the artist constructs visual realities intended for constant transformation.
From an initial image, layered narratives are gradually concealed through cuts and painterly interventions. Each action carries an energy that becomes embedded in the final object. Even when no longer visible, the gesture persists, a subtle presence emanating from what once existed.
As with those who came before us, leaving invisible traces that make our present possible.
Altered Realities brings together works in which time, chance, and materiality are not merely processes, but central to meaning.
