På Nordisk bibel og-bokmuseum har vi 2 bibler som er inkunabler utstilt, samt en side fra en Gutenberg-bibel. En inkunabel er en bok som er trykket mellom 1450 og 1500. Hvor mange bøker fra dette tidsrommet finnes det egentlig? I dag kjenner vi til rundt 500 000 inkunabler. Tyskland alene har rundt 125 000, de fleste i offentlige samlinger. British Library har hele 12 500 inkunabler. Disse tallene vitner om den enorme bokproduksjonen som fulgte etter oppfinnelsen av trykkpressen og frem til og med år 1500. At the Nordic Bible and Book Museum we have 2 Bibles that are incunables on display, as well as a page from a Gutenberg Bible. An incunable is a book that was printed between 1450 and 1500. How many books from this period actually exist? Today we know of around 500,000 incunables. Germany alone has around 125,000, most of them in public collections. The British Library has as many as 12,500 incunables. These numbers bear witness to the enormous book production that followed the invention of the printing press and continued up to and including the year 1500.
