📷 Meet artist Anja Bohnhof
For more than 25 years, Anja Bohnhof has been working as a photographer and visual artist, creating conceptual and artistic photography at the intersection of documentation and staging.
Her work begins with encounters, with people, places and objects. Through photography, model-making and carefully staged situations in public spaces, Anja creates images in which traces of use, change and history become visible.
A significant part of her practice consists of long-term projects in India, where she has been working since 2009. Her projects also explore recent German history and historical objects, examining how different values, cultural practices and historical structures come together and influence one another.
Anja’s images go beyond simply documenting what is in front of the camera. They invite us to look more closely at the stories, perspectives and cultural contexts behind an image. The people involved and the environments in which her work is created are an essential part of her artistic process.
Anja studied Visual Communication and Fine Art at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and worked for more than eight years as a photography lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Cologne. She has also been a guest lecturer at several universities in India.
Her work has been exhibited and published internationally.
We are delighted to introduce Anja Bohnhof and her distinctive photographic practice, where documentation, imagination and history meet.
