De Kleine Reus – Een ode aan Conti Hermenet, kunstenaar en oprichter van onze galerie.

De Kleine Reus was het koosnaampje dat Sis aan zijn vrouw Conti gaf. Een verwijzing naar alles wat ze in zich droeg: haar gedrevenheid, haar nieuwsgierigheid, haar geloof in anderen. We hopen haar grootsheid te tonen door middel van haar werk in al zijn vele vormen, met bijdragen van mensen die ze inspireerde en de visie voor de galerie die ze naliet, een visie die we nog steeds met ons meedragen.

Kom naar de opening tijdens Hoogtij op vrijdag 13 maart van 19:00 tot 23:00!

[EN] De Kleine Reus, a tribute to Conti Hermenet, artist and founder of our gallery.

De Kleine Reus, translated as The Tiny Giant, was the affectionate nickname Sis gave his late wife Conti. A nod to everything she contained: her drive, her curiosity, her belief in others. We hope to show her grandness through her work in all its many forms, including contributions from some of the people she inspired, and the vision for the gallery she left behind, which we still carry with us.

Gevestigd in een drukke winkelstraat veranderen we Sis Josip Galerie tijdelijk in een winkel, waar we experimenter met manieren om kunst te verkopen. Kunnen kapitalistische impulsen worden ingezet voor iets goeds en de kunsten ondersteunen?

Calling all art students for the Art Mart exhibition. All media are welcome! Painting, sculpture, fashion, photos, zines, pottery, jewellery, prints, series, etc. We would encourage you to apply with as many works as possible.

Located in a busy shopping street, we’re turning Sis Josip Galerie into a store – experimenting with ways of selling art. Can capitalist urges be used for good and support the arts? What will selling art look like in post-Labubu times?

Free up some space in your studio, participate in our experiment, and receive all profits when your work gets sold.

[NL] Der Himmel on Earth – Uit talloze vele miljoenen
Een zoektocht naar hoe de hemel zich op aarde laat zien. Sis Josip laat zich inspireren door oude visioenen en mystieke stemmen, maar ook door wat hij ervaart in het hier en nu. Van beschermengelen en symboliek tot de bruisende energie van miljoenensteden: steeds weer ontdekt hij nieuwe gedaanten van het hemelse. Want de hemel is niet ver weg – zij is aanwezig, telkens opnieuw, juist hier, tussen ons.

A search for how heaven reveals itself on earth. Sis Josip draws inspiration from ancient visions and mystical voices, but also from what he experiences in the here and now. From guardian angels and symbolism to the bustling energy of cities of millions: time and again he discovers new forms of the heavenly. For heaven is not far away – it is present, again and again, right here, amongst us.
