The new museum for Modern and Contemporary art Moco, is located on the Museum Square in Amsterdam, right in between the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum. Moco kicks off with a special Banksy exhibition, curated by Lionel and Kim Logchies. During this exhibition, a monumental (3 x 4 meters!) painting called “Beanfield” will be on display. August 31, 1997. Princess Diana’s death shocked the world. 💔

Fifteen years earlier, at just 21, she became the subject of an Andy Warhol portrait. Today, we look at the stories of three iconic women whose images became central to Warhol’s fascination with fame, tragedy, and the media.

Marilyn Monroe: The Endless Icon

Warhol created his famous Marilyn series in 1962 using silkscreen printing, just weeks after her tragic overdose. He took a single publicity photo from the 1953 film Niagara and reproduced it in endless color combinations. By endlessly repeating her face like a soup can, Warhol showed how the media turned a real, grieving woman into a mass-produced product.

Jackie Kennedy: Glamour Amidst Tragedy

After the assassination of JFK in 1963, Warhol made dozens of portraits showing Jackie grieving at the funeral. But for this specific Red Jackie (1964), he did the opposite. He went back to a happy campaign photograph from 1960. By focusing on her smile instead of her tears, Warhol captured the absolute peak of her glamour, creating a powerful contrast with her reality at that time.

Diana: Isolated from the Royal Family

Painted in 1982 to mark her royal wedding, Warhol’s portrait of Princess Diana now feels deeply haunting. Unlike his endless Marilyn prints, Warhol created only four color versions of Diana. He literally cut Prince Charles out of their official engagement photo to isolate her, trapping a 21-year-old Diana alone under the media lens.

In Memory of Yayoi Kusama (1929–2026).

We are deeply saddened by the passing of the unstoppable Yayoi Kusama at the age of 97. She leaves behind a legacy that changed contemporary art forever.Long before the world fell in love with her pumpkins and mirror rooms, she was a young rebel staging naked happenings on the Brooklyn Bridge and redefining the 1960s underground scene.

Japanese avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama dies aged 97.

The world has lost one of its most iconic artists.

From polka dots and pumpkins to her immersive Infinity Mirror Rooms, Kusama transformed repetition, obsession and infinity into a visual language recognised across the globe.

She continued to paint until her final days.

Her vision was infinite — and so is her legacy.

Jeff Koons married a p**n star — and made their relationship art.

Cicciolina was a p**n star, celebrity and Italian politician. Together, she and Koons became the subjects of Made in Heaven — a provocative series that blurred the lines between intimacy, celebrity and spectacle.
Then they divorced. But the artworks remained.
