The new museum for Modern and Contemporary art Moco, is located on the Museum Square in Amsterdam, right in between the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum. Moco kicks off with a special Banksy exhibition, curated by Lionel and Kim Logchies. During this exhibition, a monumental (3 x 4 meters!) painting called “Beanfield” will be on display. This work was showcased in 2009, and has never been on view since. "Laugh Now" will include many famous works, such as: Barcode, Girl with Balloon, Love Rat, Kids on Guns, Pulp Fiction, Trolleys, Flower Thrower, Monkey Queen, Kate Moss, Bomb Hugger, Soup Cans, and many more.

One ex*****on chamber. One photograph. One of Warhol’s most unsettling images.

Warhol took a 1953 press photograph of the ex*****on chamber at Sing Sing, where Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed.

Their case became one of the most controversial episodes of the Cold War — and their ex*****on a media spectacle.

Warhol turned the image into Pop Art, repeating it again and again until an image of an ex*****on became impossible to ignore.

More than 60 years later, the death penalty is still being debated. The question remains: should the state have the power to decide who lives and who dies?

Most people hate rats. 🐀 Banksy made them icons.

They’re everywhere in his work — running, watching, protesting and refusing to disappear.

Why rats? Because for Banksy, they represent the outsiders: overlooked, unwanted and impossible to control.
And he didn’t stop at stencils. In 2006, he released 164 live rats into a gallery.

Love them or hate them, to Banksy rats stand for rebellion, survival and freedom.

From an ocelot and an anteater to monkeys, an owl and dogs, animals have been part of artists’ lives — and their art — in some pretty unexpected ways.

Some of these stories make us smile. Others make us pause and think about how we treat animals. Let’s not forget that our fascination with animals should always come with care and respect.
