Art In Redlight Independent Art Fair

In December 2014 Art in Redlight (AIR) organises its 10th edition in the monumental space of the Beurs van Berlage. This year’s event combines AIR’s well-known and highly acclaimed art fair with a series of lively events celebrating the arts and discussing today’s art world. The Art in Redlight Foundation
The Art in Redlight (AIR) Foundation is a non-profit or

ganization based in Amsterdam. AIR organises an annual, innovative, and multidisciplinary art selling platform, in Amsterdam’s famous Redlight District. This platform gives both established and up-and-coming artists the opportunity to show their work to a broad public in the unique setting of Amsterdam’s Redlight District. This concept has proven very successful, given the enthusiastic response to all previous editions. AIR is an important forerunner in the city’s aim to bring more culture to Amsterdam’s oldest neighbourhood. AIR9 - 26-30 December 2013
During the last days of Amsterdam’s festive year of 2013, Art in Redlight is scheduled to have its ninth edition (AIR9) in the monumental space of the Beurs van Berlage. This year AIR9 aims to present the arts in a broader perspective: it offers not only a selling and exhibition platform but a discussion and event platform as well. AIR9 will feature a wide range of events, such as music, dance , theatre and art performances, lectures and discussions, conversation dinners, creative workshops and much more. AIR9 will be drawing the outside in, building a dynamic city within the walls of the Beurs van Berlage:

AIR9 - Oudekerksplein
The art fair will be hosted in the great hall, temporarily termed the Oudekerksplein (Old Church Square) The art fair presents a multitude of disciplines: painting, sculpture, video art, drawing, ceramics, design, photography and jewellery. Several established and up-and-coming galleries present recent work, most of it exhibited for the first time. The fair combines its well-known curatorial excellence with a great choice for 'first time art buyers'. AIR9 - Dam Square
The central hall will host all people interested in an open informal dialogue. This is also the place to meet and greet and relax with a drink and a bite. AIR9 – Deep East
In the Berlage concert hall, AIR9 is to present an ongoing festival programme, ranging from lectures and music to video screenings and dance performances. This space will host a number of events related to the current social, political and economic landscape, some of the central questions being ‘who owns the art’?, ‘how can we share the arts?’ and ‘which is the right direction for the art world?’ Possible activities include: a crash course in contemporary art; a conversation dinner; a writing workshop; and discussion on today’s art world. AIR9 – Over ‘t IJ
This space will be open to new ideas and artistic innovation. AIR 9 is to offer young curators the opportunity to present creative cooperations and work-in-progress, and to present the latest work of up-and-coming artists.
