Did you know? GALERI PETRONAS began its journey with a bridge between nations.

In 1992, GALERI PETRONAS opened its doors at Dayabumi Complex with its first landmark exhibition by renowned Chinese artists Deng Lin and the late Professor Yuan Yunfu. More than just a display of art, this moment celebrated the bilateral friendship between Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China.

This cultural exchange left a lasting imprint on the Malaysian art scene, fostering a unique intersection between two societies. It was a first step toward our enduring aspiration; bringing world-class art to the Malaysian public and leading regional collaborations that reflect the evolving spirit of Southeast Asia.

The historic opening was officiated by Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, then Minister of Finance, alongside the late Tan Sri Datuk Azizan Zainul Abidin, former President of PETRONAS.
