A Weaver from Chin | An indigenous tradition from Myanmar finds life in Malaysia

Hniar Fom recently arrived in Malaysia, fleeing the civil war in Myanmar that has left her homeland in Chin state in tatters. Here she persists in weaving the traditional Chin fabrics by hand, using a handloom improvised with scavenged material like discarded PVC pipes and scrap wood.

3/3 | Third of a series of three short films that tells the individual stories behind the Stand With Myanmar 2025 festival. The festival was organised by the Myanmar refugee communities in Malaysia to showcase their culture, history, food and personal stories, as a way for Malaysian and Myanmar communities to come together and understand each other better.
