VARSI Art&Lab www.galleriavarsi.it Varsi was founded in 2013 by Massimo Scrocca as an art gallery (Galleria Varsi) in the historic center of Rome.

Its scope was to explore the artistic movements of urban and contemporary art, with the aim of creating collective and solo exhibitions and of promoting public art in Italy and abroad. From 2013 to 2019, over 50 exhibitions were held with the most important national and international artists, including 108, Broken Fingaz, Borondo, Alberonero, Sebas Velasco, Etnik, Run, Sbagliato, Tellas, as well as world-famous illustrators such as the American Jeremy Fish, and two historical writers such as Skeme and Blade who have narrated the roots of this artistic movement. The work done by Galleria Varsi has been recognized by the main national and international newspapers, including the New York Times, which mentioned it among the 36 main attractions to visit in Rome. Galleria Varsi’s activity evolved in 2019 thanks to the synergy with the co-working company Ala/34, which generated Varsi Art&Lab. The new venture was born with the aim of broadening Varsi’s scope beyond the walls of exhibition space, with the commitment to experimenting with new means and techniques in a site that fully provides the tools for a full range of creative processes, from production to sale. Today Varsi Art&Lab hosts residencies of Italian and international artists, giving them the chance to operate with the artisans that are the backbone of Varsi's productions: 56Fili screen printing studio, She.Lab creative bookbinding studio and Base/34 design studio. These artisans work side by side with the artists mixing themes, techniques, skills, and artistic visions. Thanks to constant research and new relationships with the protagonists of the world art scene, Varsi Art&Lab has gained a prominent position on the international art market, also through a state-of-the-art e-commerce that enables international collectors to engage with new artists and purchase their works. Over the past year, we have presented a series of original artworks by Run painted on cardboard and subsequently framed in our workshop.

A collection of unique pieces that reflect the artist’s distinctive graphic language, made up of marks, shapes, and compositions that express both his vision and our shared journey with Varsi.

Each artwork represents a fragment of this ongoing exploration, where material, painting, and graphic expression come together, preserving the direct and expressive character of Run’s work.

SIGIL was created using the screenprint monotype technique. developed his forms through a process of direct experimentation, exploring the possibilities of shapes, composition, and color.

Each print is the result of a unique intervention on the printing matrix, creating unrepeatable compositions. The result is a series of unique works that, while sharing the same visual language, each maintain their own identity.

Appunti Inutili (Silly Notes) is a series of mixed-media works on paper: quick, instinctive paintings with a punk attitude, where images emerge from sounds and words in a sort of chain reaction, one stroke leading to the next.

RUCO’s figurative style draws from a wide range of influences, connected by a strong fascination with the grotesque and the world of masks, which the artist also explores by creating them by hand.

Fidati, Non ti Fidar can be hung in four different orientations: each one changes the perception of the image, offering four different readings of the same work.

Beyond the monotype series, A. Brunello also developed with us a new series of 50 × 70 cm sigil compositions, produced in a limited edition of 10 copies.

In these works, elements from his visual alphabet are brought together within more structured compositions, creating a dialogue between repetition, symmetry and variation. The individual symbols become part of a broader system while retaining the instinctive and archaic quality that defines Brunello’s practice.

A further extension of his symbolic language, translated into a limited screen print series produced in our studio.

It has been an intense year, filled with many changes. But we are still here, doing our best to keep pursuing what we love most: creating, experimenting, and getting our hands covered in colour.

A new collection of limited-edition screen prints and unique pieces, created during the artist’s most recent residency at our print studio.
