Adam Pendleton’s Black Dada Drawing (C/A), 2023, exemplifies his seminal concept of Black Dada. Through silkscreen ink on paper, Pendleton constructs a visual language that is both precise and expansive.
This work engages with gesture, fragment, and typography as structural elements, pushing the boundaries of abstraction while exploring the complex interplay of Blackness, history, and the avant-garde.

Don’t miss the chance to experience it.

Witness the shared interest in language and abstraction through the distinct lenses of Adam Pendleton’s Untitled (Days), 2025, and Antoni Tàpies’s Monòleg, 1997.

Pendleton’s work, with silkscreen ink and black gesso on canvas, showcases a precise layering of gesture and fragment, expanding the formal possibilities of abstraction through a contemporary lens.
Tàpies, in Monòleg, utilizes paint and scraping on wood to create a raw, visceral surface, where the very act of creation becomes an expressive mark, redefining painting in postwar Europe.

These works reveal how both artists, through different eras and techniques, push the boundaries of their medium, making the surface itself a testament to their philosophical and artistic inquiries.

We’re thrilled to share the installation views of Andreas Breunig’s retrospective at the Friedrichs Foundation.

Through his methodical and idea-driven approach, Breunig has established a distinctive voice within contemporary painting. The exhibition brings together gestural, vibrant works where structure and spontaneity coexist. Drawing from biology, chemistry, mycology, sociology, linguistics, and computer science, each painting becomes a space where information is transformed into visual experience.

Balancing expression and methodology, abstraction and empathy, Breunig’s works invite viewers into a layered and immersive dialogue between perception and meaning.

Antoni Tàpies’s Plena consciència (1999) is a quintessential example of his mastery of material abstraction.

Through mixed media and assemblage on wood, Tàpies transforms the pictorial surface into a tactile territory, incorporating elements that evoke the passage of time and the physicality of existence.

This work embodies his profound meditation on the human condition, where every mark and texture serves as a gateway to a deeper reality.

Time is the thread that quietly binds these final hours.

Today marks the closing of Another Time by Robert Barry and Sorry, Wrong Number by Glen Rubsamen.

Barry’s work invites a measured awareness of duration, language, and perception: an experience that unfolds subtly, and only in time.
In parallel, Rubsamen’s painted landscapes capture fleeting atmospheres: in the other room, a tree at dusk holds the light just before it disappears.

We look forward to welcoming you for this final day.
