Galleria d'arte moderna e contemporanea The MAAB Gallery was founded in Padua in 2009 by Michael Biasi. In 2013 the gallery moved to the center of Milan.

From the very start, the work of rediscovering important artists on the European historical-artistic panorama, those active from the 1950s and 1960s, was backed by an interest in the constant evolutions of contemporary international art language. Particular care is given to technical considerations: each show is backed by a catalogue that tells, through images, documents and the words of an art critic, the art language of the artist. The MAAB Gallery administers the Archivio Alberto Biasi. MAAB Gallery is a member of the Italian National Association of Modern and Contemporary Art Galleries (ANGAMC).

Over the past two years, Claire Lindner has been developing an artist residency at the prestigious Manufacture de Sèvres, one of France’s historic centres of ceramic and porcelain production.
During her residency, Claire brought her artistic research into dialogue with the Manufacture’s historic techniques and savoir-faire. This encounter between contemporary practice and centuries-old craftsmanship has led to the creation of a new body of ceramic and porcelain works.

A dialogue between material, tradition and experimentation, resulting in a distinctive group of works that reflects Claire Lindner’s ongoing exploration of form and matter.

“More is More” overturns the famous dictum “Less is more,” embracing instead the spirit of “Less is bore” or, as Arthur Jafa provocatively titled one of his recent exhibitions at MoMA, “Less is morbid.”

Featuring works by Piero Gilardi, Susanne Kutter, Aldo Mondino, Mario Schifano, Daniel Spoerri, The Cool Couple, and Rinus Van De Velde, the exhibition reflects an anti-minimalist approach shaped by the contamination of different languages, media, and sensibilities. The works unfold in a dialogue where established balances are constantly disrupted, as if exposed to an external force capable of transforming their original equilibrium.

“More is More” invites viewers to embrace the complexity of reality, where accumulation, hybridity, and layered meanings become essential tools for interpreting the present.

More is More
On view through September 11.
Summer closure: July 27 - August 31

It’s the last week to visit Enough of Me, the solo exhibition by Susanne Kutter at the MAAB gallery in Milano! ✨

Among the works on display is “Enough of Me (Lady Diana)”, a neon text piece in which precise, hypnotic lines present language both as a luminous sign and as a technical process, shaped by the physical presence of gas and its chemical transformation. Alongside it, as in the work “I’m Not Doing Anything Much Except Just Existing (Marilyn Monroe)”, language takes the form of text embroidered onto a tablecloth. Whether carried out by hand or by machine, the intervention disrupts the object’s regular domestic fabric, unsettling and transforming it, and entrusting it with a new message to convey. In this dialogue between technique and the handmade, between light and organic materials, the artistic gesture becomes a site where control and loss of control confront one another. 🧵✨
