承載著個人故事與集體經歷的紙藝樹冠作品已蔓延至整個展廳，透過眾人之手打造出一處「怡人之地」。作品源自於藝術家賴恩．維拉馬爾的「Locus Amoenus」系列，這次香港版本邀請觀眾參與創作，從中反思人的遷徙與歸屬。在本周末（8月2日）的閉幕式中，本地藝術家林葉、簡僖進、余林橞將有關渴望、記憶、聯繫的故事合奏於這片共享景觀。他們融合田野錄音、敲擊樂，以及白恩逢之家外籍家庭傭工提供的聲音素材，打造出一片充滿鳥鳴與蟲聲的聲景。

Carrying both personal stories and collective experiences, the paper canopy installation has now grown around the whole gallery through participants’ contributions to the artist’s installation. This “pleasant place” comes from the artist Ryan Villamael’s 𝘓𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴 𝘈𝘮𝘰𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘴 series. For this iteration in Hong Kong, he has invited participants to co-create and reflect on human migration and belonging. At the upcoming closing ceremony on 2 Aug, local artists Lam Yip, AK Kan and Karen Yu will give form to this imagined chorus of longing, memory and connection within this shared landscape. Combining field recordings, percussion and processed audio of speeches contributed by domestic helpers from Bethune House, they will transform the space into a living soundscape with birds and insects.
Join us in the last week of the co-creation period and for the closing ceremony to witness the growth of the work. At the closing ceremony, you are invited to retrieve a piece of the work, taking home a shared memory of this co-creation.

在近似片場和後台的環境中，表演者與裝置持續互動，產生一幕幕短暫而不斷演變的景觀。莊偉的全新委約現場展演「親密的歸順」從藝術家對電影的具身記憶出發，將其轉譯為裝置及形體語言，引領觀眾重新思考性別與身份的建構。表演者將自身與裝置玻璃上的身體印記細緻對位、隔著懸掛薄紗靠近彼此以留下彩妝痕跡。透過這些身體殘跡，藝術家試圖追問：我們的身體如何藉著共同的姿態、記憶與形式，與他者之身相互連繫。
持續性介入與表演於展期間每天上演——親身到訪展覽，透過身體的在場與相遇喚起人與人之間的情感聯繫。

In an environment resembling a film set and backstage, the performers’ durational interventions with the installations generate constantly evolving and ephemeral spatial landscapes. Isaac Chong Wai’s newly commissioned live art solo exhibition, 𝘈𝘯 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳, takes the artist’s embodied cinematic memories as its departure point, translating them into installations and bodily movements that prompt a critical reconsideration of gender and identity construction. Performers carefully align parts of their bodies with the imprints on the glass, or lean against one another, leaving traces of makeup behind on hanging sheer curtains. Working with these remnants of bodily impressions, the artist asks how one body might connect to another through shared gestures, memories and forms.
Durational interventions and performances are taking place throughout the exhibition period. Come in person and experience how human emotions are bound through bodily presence and acts of encounter.

「開箱2026」最後召集！
Last call for 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘹 2026!

藉由地圖、記憶與想像，藝術家賴恩．維拉馬爾在大館打造出一處「怡人之地」。在這次香港版本，他首次邀請參與者加入創作，讓作品在空間中持續生長。這個不斷演變的生態系統以植物隱喻人的遷徙——人們在新地方定居、適應並繼續成長，同時維繫著與原居地的連結。呼應這個概念，也延續「開箱」項目對香港不同社群的關注，我們邀請了支援海外傭工及少數族裔的本地非牟利及慈善機構參與創作，藉此呈現這座城市中的多元想法，讓眾人的記憶在此交織，形成一個緊密相連的網絡。

Through maps, memory and imagination, artist Ryan Villamael shapes a “pleasant place” at Tai Kwun. This iteration in Hong Kong marks the first time he opens up his installation series for a co-creation project, which invites participants to contribute to its growth. The ever-evolving ecosystem uses plants as a metaphor for migration as people settle in new places, adapt and keep growing while staying connected to their roots. In response to this concept – while also extending Open the Box’s connection with different communities in Hong Kong – we have welcomed local non-profit and charitable organisations supporting overseas workers and ethnic minorities to join the workshop in order to create a network of stories connected by personal memories.

糅合張力與柔軟、緩慢與加速、重複與變化——莊偉的全新委約展演作品《親密的歸順》將當代舞蹈的抽象線條、傳統中國戲曲陰柔的身段重新組裝，從當代角度探索亞洲男性的身體敘事。在順勢與被阻隔、前進與倒退、倚靠與分離的肢體動態中，表演者以肉身為媒介，透過重複性編舞翻譯和協商性別的表演性，呈現個體對抗社會規訓的縮影。

Synthesizing tension and softness, slowness and acceleration, repetition and variation, Isaac Chong Wai’s newly commissioned performance work, 𝘈𝘯 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳, reassembles the abstract lines of contemporary dance with the feminine movements (dan roles) of traditional Chinese opera, exploring bodily narratives on Asian masculinity from a contemporary perspective. In the dynamic interplay of smoothness and disruption, forwarding and rewinding, leaning and separating, the performers deploy their bodies as a medium to translate and negotiate performance of gender through recurring choreography, hinting at an individual’s resistance to social constraints.

全新委約現場展演個展「莊偉：親密的歸順」⁠由裝置與表演構築而成，將藝術家對電影的具身記憶轉譯成具表演性的光影景觀。穿行於片場、後台之間，表演者透過親密互動及重複性編舞持續介入展場，留下痕跡予觀眾發掘。展覽以一組刻有身體印記的裝置為核心，借身體與記憶探討性別表現。

Comprising installations and performances, the newly commissioned solo live art exhibition, 𝘐𝘴𝘢𝘢𝘤 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘢𝘪: 𝘈𝘯 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳, translates the artist’s embodied memories of film into a performative landscape of light and shadow. Moving across a film set and a rehearsal room, visitors encounter traces of performers who activate areas of the gallery with intimate gestures and repeated movements. Centred around an installation of bodily imprints, the exhibition explores the performance of gender at the intersections of corporality and memory.

The participatory programme 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘹 2026: 𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘙𝘺𝘢𝘯 𝘝𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘦𝘭 invites participants to work with paper and to transform the gallery space into an immersive, forest-like landscape. For this edition at Tai Kwun of the artist’s paper canopy installation, Ryan Villamael draws inspirations from the local plants in Hong Kong, including the Bauhinia blakeana, Eleutherococcus trifoliatus, Epipremnum pinnatum, Monstera deliciosa, and Monstera adansonii, banyan tree. Their features are incorporated into the work, constituting a sense of locality.

糅合現場表演、舞蹈和場域特定裝置，「莊偉：親密的歸順」凸顯舞台表演中的身體元素，重新思考藝術形式中的性別扮演。展覽透過「片場」及「後台」的場景，封存了藝術家對電影《霸王別姬》的具身記憶——當中包括表演者參考自京劇身段的持續性介入及編舞，以及散落於展廳蝕刻玻璃上的身體印記。

Integrating live performance, dance and a site-specific installation, 𝘐𝘴𝘢𝘢𝘤 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘢𝘪: 𝘈𝘯 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 evokes the physicalities of stage performances to re-examine the artistic forms of cross-gender performance. Staged in a film set and a rehearsal room, the exhibition presents the artist’s embodied memories of the film 𝘍𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘔𝘺 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘶𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘦 – through durational interventions and choreography that makes references to Peking Opera gestures, as well as through bodily imprints on the etched glass dispersed throughout the gallery.

下期現場展演「親密的歸順」延續藝術家莊偉的編舞實踐，在剛柔並濟的空間佈局中留下一道道身體痕跡，藉此探討性別的表演性建構。作品以電影《霸王別姬》為出發點——從京劇中的表演、電影媒介中的表演，以及日常生活中的表演——開啟一場關於「性別扮演」的討論。

Building on the artist Isaac Chong Wai’s choreographic practice, the upcoming live art exhibition 𝘈𝘯 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘚𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 captures traces of the body within a spatial arrangement that balances rigidity and fluidity, exploring gender as a performed construct. Taking the film 𝘍𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘔𝘺 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘶𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘦 as a point of departure – which stages performances across Chinese opera, cinema and everyday life – the work opens up a discussion of “gender performativity.”
