South West Herts Model Railway Society A Model Railway Society based at The Lincolnsfield Centre in Bushey, near Watford. also open Mon & Wed mornings 10.30-13.00

If you are interested in joining please come along to one of our club nights on
either a Tuesday or Thursday evening from 19:30. Membership is in the mid twenties and we are always happy to welcome visitors and potential new members. We have access to the clubroom 7 days a week but our main club nights are Tuesdays & Thursdays 19.30 to 22.00 approx. Unfortunately we no longer have any members spe

cialising in ‘0’ gauge and the permanent ‘0’ gauge layout in the clubroom has been removed to allow space for layouts under construction. The current 'N' gauge layout is called 'Dudley Frey', after a member who sadly passed away. It is a circuit 16 feet long and 3 feet wide with 4 running roads. Automatic light signals are installed and work is progressing on an extening the layout. Our 'OO' gauge layout is called Tedburn St Mary which is also 16 feet long. Some might say it a bit ‘long in the tooth’ but it is still receiving invitations to exhibition and in November we will be taking it to ‘Warley’. Another ‘00’ layout is Silverbury which just has its scenic's to complete before it too can join the exhibition circuit. We also have an 0-16.5 layout being built. Social events have included the Annual Dinner in January, a Bar-B-Que during the Summer and visits to places of interest such as the Daily Mirror printing works, we also went to the Warley Exhibition last November. Last year one of our younger members started a club magazine, ‘That There Magazine’, which is very interesting. Click on the link and read it for your self.

What a shame club was busy with various members working on our layouts - so few visitors once again - remember we are open again on last Sunday of each month April -November inclusively.
Not sure why but almost a total lack of footfall once again.
Remember there were originally FIVE local clubs now there's just us and the much smaller Finescale group who meet in North Watford.
We will be open again next month and hopefully more will attend..

Its the last Sunday of the month - I have been informed by the committee that the following should be running -Jurassic Halt ( Dinosaurs!). FUDGE Town (00). Prestons End (N). Test track (00) both DCC and analogue - plus a member will bring along an O gauge clockwork layout.
So we normally open at around 10.30- and buzz off by 15.30 - its totally FREE to come in .. Come on down and see what we are currently working on..

This is NOT organized by the SW Herts club- we have simply been asked to bring some of our layouts along .
The admission is £3.

A reminder to any of our new followers that the clubhouse is open on the last Sunday of the Month from April to November- this is an opportunity for anyone to drop in and see what we are working on and have a chat - there is NO CHARGE for admission.. Club members will either be working on layouts and running some and the 00 test track will be running in some format from around 10-15- 16.00.

So many thanks to the traders,exhibitors and all the visitors for making it such a cracking day.
It was unfortunate with the area football finals down at the Met Police and the Power League causing issues with the car parking- which was totally out of our control...
We will be reviewing that going forward as we felt it was unacceptable as we had lost quite an area of parking as compared to last year.

Our most recent activity was a trip last Sunday to Alexandra Palace for the recent two day exhibition.

The club also attended the Abingdon exhibition with our Silverbury Layout - - a film of that layout in action appears on our u-tube channel whilst at Thornbury in May 2025.

Next up will be our own exhibition on 9th May at Queens School in Bushey WD23 2TY- some photos of layouts attending -

We are due to appear at the Spalding exhibition at the end of October with Silverbury and we have also had a recent request to appear at the NEC in Birmingham at the end of November.
