Good Evening everyone today was fantastic day. We had a few very special visitors today. We had 2 war veterans who definitely charmed the ladies. The other visitor was one of the sisters of a much loved volunteer that sadly passed away last year. Those that visted regularly would know our Dave 'hands' 2 of our other volunteers Chris and Phil showed her the new part of the military museum that is dedicated to Arnhem in memory of Dave, it was an emotional moment but it was very special. Dave was due to travel to Arnhem this September with a group of our volunteers. Chris and Phil worked tirelessly to ensure that the new display was to the high standard that Dave would approve of. Thank you Chris and Phil, Dave will always be with us.

Our Story

Due to the current global situation regarding the coronavirus outbreak, our public open days will not be going ahead for the forseeable future. We will keep you updated as to when we will re-open. Admission: Adults £5, Children/OAPs £3, Under 4's Free It's not just a museum - It's a living history experience! What was once the WW2 operational headquarters of the United States Air Force 8th Fighter Command is today home to The 1940s Experience, a part of the Lincolnsfields Children's Centre, which is run by the Lincolnsfields Children's Charity. The 1940s Experience offers exciting, unique educational trips for both children and adults. For children and young people we offer two study opportunities under our Children at War Evacuees Experience programme. These are group day visits for schools and, uniquely in the UK, 3-day residential visits; which allow pupils to fully experience some of the realities of being a child during the Second World War. The adult and family programme centres around the regular Open Day events at the Centre on the last Sunday of every month (except December) and pre-booked private group visits for party bookings. There are lots of hands-on activities for the whole family to enjoy. We offer education, nostalgia and fun! Big or small, young or old we cater to all - whether you're looking for a trip down memory lane; to experience parents or grandparents stories of their life during the war; or to learn about an important part of our country's history in a fun, hands on way.

Duties will include catering, site maintenance, light domestic duties which altogether makes for a varied role. Flexible working hours day/eve hours over 7 days.
