🐎 Hold Your Horses… Some Things Are Worth Waiting For

For years, Michelle, Andrew and Ted 🐾 searched for the perfect statement piece for their living room. Then Mistral arrived... and it was worth every moment.

This stunning commissioned oil painting, by equine artist Richard Thackham, captures the spirit of a young stallion in full flight. Built using Richard’s signature photographic montage-inspired technique, layered colour and subtle collage details create a remarkable sense of movement, power and freedom.

Every detail was carefully considered — from the palette and composition to the smallest collage elements and even the exact hanging height — ensuring the artwork became part of the home, not just something on the wall.

“Great job by Richard – even better than anticipated,” said a delighted Andrew.

And the story doesn’t end there... another bespoke commission is currently with the framer and will soon take pride of place in their hallway. It will be their seventh artwork from us — a wonderful example of building lasting relationships and matching exceptional art to our clients’ homes, lifestyles and personal stories.

There’s nothing more rewarding than helping people find artwork they’ll treasure for a lifetime.

A Commission That Truly Transforms a Space

Some commissions leave a lasting impression — and this extraordinary work by the immensely talented Helen Masacz (pictured delivering her work to me) is one of them.

Bold, dramatic and full of captivating contrasts, the painting combines exceptional technique with a powerful visual presence.

Created especially for Glenys and David’s stylish, newly-renovated Cheshire home, its rich ochres and lush greens were carefully chosen to complement the breakfast room, where it now feels completely at home.

As Glenys says:
“We love this piece — it completes the room so well. It looks like it has always been there.”

Art for good

Here’s an easy and creative way to share your original art for a very good cause…

Launching on the International Day of Peace – Monday 21 September 2026 – Postcards for Peace is an affordable online art lottery in collaboration with KarmaBank.

Artists from around the world have contributed original postcard-sized works, offering art lovers the chance to own something truly unique while supporting a vital cause.

Themes of peace, resilience and hope run throughout the collection.

Organiser Emily Saunders tells us:
“All proceeds go to the David Nott Foundation who train doctors to provide safe, skilled surgical care in countries impacted by war and catastrophe.

“We are looking for established artists to create an original piece of postcard-sized artwork centred around the themes of peace, resilience and hope.”

Home is where the horse is... 🐴

Well, horseS, actually...

Today Betsy and Jake, the much-loved ponies of our wonderful new neighbours, Jenny and Olivia, arrived at our new place in the North Cotswolds. Seeing them grazing outside somehow makes it all feel a little more real.

After months of dust, decisions and renovations, it finally feels like there's light at the end of the tunnel. With a bit of luck, we'll be moving into our new (very old, lovingly renovated) home by the end of the summer.

And that's not all. The big old barn is next on the list. The dream is to transform it into a creative space for workshops, talks, gatherings and arty adventures. We can't wait to see it come to life.

One hoof at a time... we're stable-ising our future. 🐴✨

We made it!

About 8pm last night the bunting and lanterns went out and we got these photos

We’re open from 10am today - and looking forward to a sunny evening PV from 5.30pm (we’re so lucky to have hit good weather)

Here's the last two days of frenetic activity captured in a few snaps and two quick pieces of video

Pulling an exhibition together is a long cross-country route with an uphill marathon sprint at the end - especially when you're trying out a new space and everything is an uknown

How do we want viewers to navigate the show? What will fit where? How will the hanging system operate? Where are the natural and electric light sources? What looks best in which space? Where are the showstoppers? How will large and small pieces interact in the same space?

It takes days to get things looking good and to do justice to all the wonderful art on display - we're about half-way there this evening

And it's worth all the work: this Friday we open Pride of Place at Jacques Barn in beautiful Stourton (near Shipston-on-Stour) and share the front-of-house experience with all of you... We're open from 10am till 5pm and the Private View starts at 5.30pm and runs till 8

Palette to Palate - enjoy fine art and fine food in a great village next Friday…

We’ve teamed up with The Cherington — one of the three local Happy Wolf gastropubs — to offer exclusive meal vouchers to visitors attending our Pride of Place show, opening next Friday, 22 May.

On a first-come, first-served basis, visitors can enjoy the wonderful creations of our regional artists and pick up a voucher for 20% off their food bill* just a few metres down the lane in Stourton.

The Cherington serves a wide variety of delicious dishes, from classic pub favourites to inventive seasonal specials — all made using locally-sourced ingredients prepared fresh each day. Add in superb hospitality from Helen and Cat and you’re in for a real treat.

So, please come and feast your eyes on the tempting art before feeding your appetite with a tasty meal in this beautiful North Cotswold border village.
