SADCASE ANNUAL SHOW- AMBERLEY MUSEUM
28th June 8.30am to 4.00pm plus

We are delighted to once again host our annual show at Amberley Museum, building on the success of the past three years. As before, all areas of the museum will be open, and your car or motorbike will be at the heart of the event for both members and the visiting public. Many of our current members first discovered SADCASE at this very show, drawn in by the wonderful vehicles and welcoming atmosphere

We have now opened the box office for our Annual Show at Amberley Museum-

As mentioned at the last meeting, this is a very special rate that we have managed to secure again this year — just £12.50 per person, of which £10 goes directly to the Amberley Museum charity.

This event is advertised by Amberley Museum as an official event in their calendar and is open to the general public.
Please note that entry to our show at this special rate requires SADCASE members to park their cars by 10:00am and leave them in place until at least 3:30pm. Your vehicle is an essential part of the day!

Early departure is not permitted unless absolutely necessary and agreed in advance by a SADCASE committee member, with at least one hour’s notice.
The main gate will not be manned during the event, so your cooperation is appreciated.

Please note that we are once again using the tried-and-tested CARTERS e-commerce website, which normally specialises in selling domestic appliances to the local community. Please use the link below to access the ticket webpage and purchase your ticket for the day. It is possible to pay in a number of ways including debit/creditcard.
As last year, the receipt will act as your ticket. Please bring it along on the day

Member Steve Lewis has shared this story with us which we think you may find of interest! To be shown this Sunday!

"Recently I was approached by the 'Shed & Buried' TV show team on the Quest channel asking if I could help with supplying either an early '50's Super Snipe or Pullman for an episode they were scheduling.
Henry Cole and Fuzz Townsend wanted to make a' spoof' short film recreating the section from the James Bond film, 'Dr No', where Bond driving a Sunbeam Alpine is chased by villians in a American 'LaSalle' hearse.

The odd thing was that I knew and they knew was that when the hearse careers off the road and down a rough slope into a quarry and explodes, they had switched the vehicle to a Humber Pullman, so what the team wanted to recreate was this chase sequence but without the Humber going down into a quarry!

They were not fussed about a Snipe or Pullman so I said I could do it. Filming was to be at their base in Oxfordshire so an early morning start for me from West Sussex to beat the traffic.

I got there early and met Henry and Fuzz plus the film crew and team. I stressed I didn't want to get involved with quarries!

The plan was both cars were fitted 'Go Pro' video cameras, a road filming team in a Range Rover plus a drone for aerial shots.

I was invited into the filming Range Rover for all the road sequences. The camera man was strapped in in the back with the tailgate up and with an assortment of video cameras and kit.

For the Humber, the two 'heavies' were dressed in black, 'bomber' hats and dark glasses as the 'Bad Guys'!

We set off down the quite country lanes and as the cars and film crew were in communication with each other, the tailgate cameraman started filming with Fuzz driving the Alpine followed by the 'bad guys' in my Humber. As it was a 'chase', the Humber was all over the road trying to catch the Alpine.

Following the road sequences, we headed for an 'A' road and a lay-by. Here we did 'drive by' shots of the cars in action including more drone shots.

Finally, as a further 'joke' we set up in the quaint village of Brampton where there is a strict r Steve Lewis 20mph driving limit. The idea was to film the chase here at a strict 20mph!

We then returned to base at Henry's farm where all his programmes are generally set and recorded.

A fantastic day which I and they enjoyed doing.

Surprisingly, its a very quick turnaround from producing to editing to transmitting on the 'Quest' channel and should be on 'Shed & Buried' : Classic Cars series 4, episode 3, 13th April".

A SADCASE PRODUCTION

The DAM BUSTERS- A Talk by Harry Sherrard

Limeburners Cafe

Amberley Museum

THURSDAY 26th February

Arrive from 6.30pm - Talk at 7.00pm

On the night of 16/17 May, 1943 the RAF’s recently formed 617 Squadron carried out what was probably the most famous air raid of all time. A combination of the genius of Barnes Wallis, inventor of the bouncing bomb, and the astonishing courage and skill of the crews saw two major German dams breached and a third damaged, leading to loss and disruption to the N**i war economy. Normally kept top secret, the aerial reconnaissance photos of the ruptured dams and consequent flooding were transmitted around the world, giving the Allies a major propaganda coup.

How was the technology developed? How was this daring raid executed? Was the raid worth the lives of the 53 aircrew who perished on the night? How accurate was the epic 1955 Dambusters movie? This is a fascinating presentation about one of the greatest feats of arms of World War 2.

Why not give the TV a miss this evening and be entertained by Harry Sherrard and meet with your fellow SADCASE members.

Harry has spent many hours in research shedding new light on this most famous and daring raid of the second world war. It should be a great evening.

Light snacks (sausage rolls etc) and the usual full range drinks will be available from the bar

Doors will be open from 6.30pm and the talk is scheduled to start at 7.00pm.

There is no charge but any contributions will be forwarded to The Mary How charity.
