A magical 14th century moated manor house, with stunning gardens and estate. Should this happen repeatedly we will be left with no option but to ban users.

A unique restored moated manor house and family home surrounded by beautiful gardens, lakes and wooded walks. Built nearly 700 years ago, this house has seen many changes and been owned by medieval knights, courtiers to Henry VIII and high-society Victorians. Highlights include the picturesque courtyard, Great Hall, crypt, Tudor painted ceiling, Grade I listed dog kennel and the private apartments of the American Charles Henry Robinson, who gave Ightham Mote to the National Trust in 1985. We are delighted to have those who liked us provide comment and feedback on our content but do ask people for the sake of other users and viewers of our page to moderate language at all times to ensure it is not inappropriate. Deborah Pritchard’s Music Maps at Ightham Mote | until Sunday 1 November

See composer Deborah Pritchard’s new collection of Music Maps at Ightham Mote. Deborah is a composer and artist who has synaesthesia, giving her the ability to link colour and music. The watercolour paintings portray her own music as well as that of other composers and a selection of these are now on display in the house at Ightham Mote.

House open daily 11am-5pm (last entry 4.30pm). Normal admission to Ightham Mote applies.

Second-hand bookshop at Ightham Mote - can you help?

Ahead of the October half term break, we're looking for donations of children's books to add to the shelves in the second-hand bookshop at Ightham Mote. If you have any children's books that you would like to donate, please drop them in to the Visitor Centre (open 10am-5pm), or you can email us at [email protected]

Thank you for your support. All funds raised in the second-hand bookshop stay at Ightham Mote to help with looking after the gardens, estate, house and collection.
Open daily, 10am-5pm (4pm from 2 November)

Walled Garden Tours at Ightham Mote | Wednesday 14 October

The last tour of the walled garden takes place on Wednesday, so come along and discover more about this recently reinstated space at Ightham Mote.

Enjoy the autumn flowers, see the art installation Quercus by Jack Skylark, find out about the seasonal planting, from productive crops to ornamental highlights, and hear about exciting plans for the garden’s future.

Tour takes place 2.40pm-3.30pm; £5 per person and normal admission applies. Book in advance or see if tickets are available from Visitor Reception on the day.

Experience The Pikachu Art Adventure this autumn and discover 30 different Pikachu illustrations from the Pokémon Trading Card Game: 30th Celebration, each brought to life by a different artist.
This is art at the National Trust, but not as you know it.

Come and explore the autumn flowers that are brightening up the gardens at Ightham Mote. There are pale blue asters and pink Bowden lilies in the borders, red dahlias in the courtyard and much more to discover.

Volunteer Coffee Morning at Ightham Mote | Wed 23 Sep

Interested in volunteering at Ightham Mote? Come along to the next coffee morning to find out about what voluteering means and what roles are currently available.

We need volunteers for a range of activities, including helping to get Ightham Mote ready for opening in the morning, welcoming visitors to the historic mansion, or leading a tour of the garden.

Spaces are free, but limited, so please book in advance (online or call 0344 249 1895). Session starts at 11am.

Heritage Open Day at Ightham Mote | Thursday 17 September

Celebrate Heritage Open Day at Ightham Mote on Thursday 17 September with free entry for all to the garden and house. Join a free garden or introductory talk and discover more about the medieval moated manor house.

Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture, bringing together local people, organisations, and thousands of volunteers. Every year, people come together across England to celebrate their heritage, community, and history.

On Thursday 17 September only, admission to Ightham Mote is free. This includes entry to the house and garden. House open 11am-5pm, last entry 4.30pm.
Free introductory talks at 11.15am, 12.15pm and 2.15pm and free garden talks at 11.40am and 1.40pm. For more information on the talks, please ask in Visitor Reception on arrival.
