Good reasons to buy this painting -
1) it may yet become historically significant as it depicts what future generations should be informed was once known as a river. What was left of these after the drought of 2026 was drained in order to supply mega data centres so that your government could keep a record of your every last move and so that you could enjoy the dubious pleasure of creating a visualisation of how your your cat might have looked as Richard Lionheart fighting those nasty Saracens or some such...

This is a lovely little painting by Philip Richardson, painted precisely at this time of year - but which year? The sky is grey which rules out 2026, the land is dry but not scorched as it is now. It's a super composition, beautifully conveyed and it is fascinating to compare this to his version of the same view in August which has a totally different mood.
