Horses, caravans and marquee upon marquee: Flora Twort (1893 – 1985) left many paintings and drawings of the busy, brightly coloured Taro Fair. Traditionally held on 6 October for selling livestock, it also had funfair amusements by at least the late 19th century.

The South Downs Open is almost upon us! Thank you to everyone who contributed to the 500 submissions we received and congratulations to everyone who was successfull.

This year we will be exhibiting 180 artists and 183 pieces of work, with the South Downs Open completely taking over the museum. The exhibition opens on Saturday 10th October and tickets are available now!

The museum may be closed for exhibition turnover but you can still come and flex your artistic muscles. Petersfield Creates is a project in partnership with Bedales School to create a unique and original textile print that will then be transformed into a garment which will then be displayed in the museum.

Join us in The Studio at Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery from Tuesday - Friday, 10am - 4pm completely for free! Just pop round the side of the building through the green gate and head to The Studio to get painting.

We can't wait to see what you come up with!

What a fantastic weekend to launch our Heritage Open Days celebrations!
