🚗 Mileage Allowance Increase — What You Need to Know

Good news for employees and business owners who use their own vehicle for work purposes 👇

The approved mileage allowance is set to increase from 45p to 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles travelled during the tax year.

It’s important to remember this applies to business travel only — not normal commuting to and from your regular workplace.

For anyone regularly travelling between appointments, visiting clients, attending meetings or working across multiple sites, the increase could make a noticeable difference over the course of the year.

As always, keeping accurate mileage records remains essential if you plan to make a claim.

Next stop on our Open Studios 2026 tour… Darian House! 🎨✨

Studio I on the trail and beautifully captured by P N Clin, this lovely red-brick studio right in the heart of Market Harborough was buzzing across both Open Studios weekends.

Home to newer Cluster member Kayleigh Smith Creative , Darian House provided the perfect setting for a vibrant and welcoming creative space. Kayleigh’s intuitive abstract work, exploring emotional expression through colour and mark making, has seen her dive headfirst into the Cluster — and what a fantastic Open Studios debut it was!

Being right in the town centre certainly had its advantages too, with the ever-tempting The Garage Bakehouse conveniently nearby for coffee, refreshments and the occasional well-earned break.

The studio hosted a wonderful mix of artists across the two weekends.

Joining for the first weekend were Jenni Robson , with her nature-inspired watercolours, inks and beautiful reduction linocut prints, and Kath Topham — our very own Insta Queen — whose abstract expressionist paintings sparked conversations with their intriguing sculptural qualities and layered storytelling.

For the second weekend, Katy Dynes brought her quirky, joyful illustrations and curious creatures to the space, delighting visitors with work full of character and charm. We also hear Katy's illustrated signs became something of a feature whenever artists briefly stepped away from the studio!

Meanwhile Zoe Laughton ( Casaly ) exhibited across both weekends, filling the space with her joyful contemporary floral paintings created using acrylic, watercolour and mixed media.

And then there were the moments between the art...

The bunting hanging adventures. The infamous "swing your pants" boomerangs. The laughter. The teamwork. The cups of coffee. The conversations. The visitors. The friendships.

Most importantly, all that hard work paid off, with sales made and lots of positive feedback throughout the event.

These photos really capture what Darian House was all about — creativity, community, encouragement, colour and a whole lot of fun.
