As part of the Festival of Archaeology 2026 celebrations at Market Harborough Museum, CLS (and Ken the archaeologist) delivered a sensory version of the story of finding the Hallaton treasure for SEND and Early Years children and their families. Great fun was had by everyone! 😊

Make your own Needle Case 9.30am –12noon     £5
Focusing on some essential techniques to make your clothing last longer. From sewing on a button, repairing a hem to patching a hole. Using your new skills, you will create a needle case to take with you at the end of the workshop.

Creative Darning 1pm – 3.30pm      £10
How to use a mini darning loom for essential mending or creative embellishment of any type of clothing. Price includes darning loom complete with threads and needles to takeaway.

Visit the museum and you can also read about Revd Pearson who set up an observatory in South Kilworth including a beautiful Swithland slate sundial.

Loving cups are shared drinking vessels, traditionally used at weddings or banquets. They have two handles and are often made of silver. Loving cups are also, at times, used as presentation trophies.
