Applications are now open for the 2026/27 Haworth Trust Scholarships at Paradise Works!

Now in its fifth year, the programme supports contemporary visual artists to develop ambitious new work and build sustainable careers in Greater Manchester.

Three artists will each receive:
• A free studio at Paradise Works for one year
• A materials budget
• Mentoring and support throughout the year
• The opportunity to take part in a group exhibition at Paradise Works

Two scholarships are available for artists within three years of graduating, alongside one for an early to mid-career artist with 3–7 years of professional practice post-graduation.

We’re particularly interested in artists whose work has a strong relationship to painting, drawing, sculpture, installation and/or music.

The scholarships will run from November 2026-November 2027.

Applications close Sunday 6 September at midnight.

EXHIBITION ANNOUNCEMENT: AFTERCROP 🌾

We’re excited to announce Aftercrop, a new solo exhibition by Maya Rose Edwards, opening at Paradise Works this August. maya

Aftercrop is a new installation of sculptural works exploring how rural landscapes, traditions and communities are changing in the face of ecological crisis, globalisation and rapid commodification. Through found objects, salvaged materials and carefully assembled forms, Maya looks beyond the familiar image of the British countryside idyll to uncover the remnants of histories, labour and cultures in decline. Aftercrop reflects on what is lost as places, knowledge and ways of living disappear while asking what might still be carried forward, reimagined and rebuilt for the future.

Aftercrop invites us to look again at the landscapes we think we know.

Opening next week at Paradise Works: to it, you are everything.

Bringing together new work by Kelan Andrews, and Freya Wysocki, the exhibition explores our relationship with the natural world through material experimentation, abstract observation and quiet moments of reflection.

Created during the artists’ Haworth Trust residencies at Paradise Works, ‘to it, you are everything’ invites visitors to consider how we exist alongside the world around us, finding beauty in the everyday and encouraging a slower, more thoughtful way of looking.

We’re delighted to share a first look at Lead into Gold, the debut solo exhibition by Paradise Works studio holder .

Described by Liv as “a dream come true”, this deeply personal body of work has been years in the making. Working across drawing, sculpture, found imagery and writing, Lead into Gold explores healing, imagination and personal transformation, inviting visitors to slow down, reflect and look inward.

Private View: Thursday 23 July, 6–9pm
Exhibition: 24–27 July, 12–4pm

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the preview of Sorry About the Mess. It was such a gorgeous evening, and we loved celebrating the opening with so many wonderful faces.

BIG NEWS ✨

We’re delighted to share that we’ve been awarded Arts Council England Project Grant funding to support our work throughout 2026 - 27.

This funding will help us make essential repairs to our building; deliver an ambitious year of artist-led programming; and grow and diversify our artist community here in Salford.

A huge thank you to Arts Council England Arts Council England for believing in the power of artist-led spaces and investing in our future.

They create opportunities where there might otherwise be none. They give artists room to experiment, connect, collaborate, learn and take risks. They help build communities, not just careers…. and right now, that support feels more important than ever!

As artists and grassroots organisations continue to face increasing challenges, investment in independent creative spaces is vital. These spaces are often the first place new ideas are tested, new relationships are formed, and new futures are imagined. This funding is about more than a programme of events. It’s about sustaining a space for artists, culture and community to grow together in Salford.

It’s a big year for us ahead, and this support will help us take some important next steps. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey so far - artists, audiences, volunteers, partners, sponsors patrons, and supporters. We wouldn’t be here without you, and we can’t wait to share what’s next 🌴💗
