An enjoyable gallery road trip to last week, to see John Akomfrah’s incredible ‘Mimesis: African Soldier’, & Scott Myles’ ‘Head in a Bell’ instillations. Also managed to catch one of the final Hockney screenings at Aviva Studios, along with the rest of Manchester!

This week we’re launching our winter sale, with price reductions of up to 35% on selected works. Our popular picture framing service is also returning, after a few weeks of much needed rest. Why not pay us a visit in the gallery this week during the following opening hours:

The artist behind behind our wonderful gallery shutter renovation .mcgillivray will be holding her first spray paint workshop at Next Door Gallery next Sunday 24th November! With a focus on transforming up-cycled materials, Becky will be teaching attendees the fundamentals of spray-paint application and how to unleash your inner creativity. All materials supplied, tickets are £10 adv via the link in our bio, and all ages are welcome.

“Let’s turn some trash into treasure! At this workshop for everybody and anybody you’ll upcycle a wheel trim into a piece of art. You’ll be provided with all the paint you could want to transform it, including spray paint, acrylic and emulsion. You can freestyle it or you can use the sketch of your wheel trim provided for you to plan out your design. This workshop is a relaxing, fun time to express creativity.

Underpinning this workshop is the ethos that trash can become treasure, that something destined for landfill can be made anew.”

Very excited to say that next Friday 30th August sees us host the preview evening for our Summer Group Show! We’ll be welcoming guests to the gallery between 5-8 PM, all are welcome, and refreshments will be served. The exhibition then runs for a fortnight until September 15th. Full details are on the poster at the front of these images. Looking forward to welcoming many of you to the gallery for, what we think may be our strongest show to date!

Join us tomorrow evening (Friday 26th) to celebrate the launch of a new guest exhibition; ‘Coming Home’, featuring works centered around British-based artists who have been displaced from their original homelands.

The exhibition will run in our downstairs space until Friday 2nd August, and has been specially curated by Manchester based arts organisation . Tomorrow’s preview evening takes place between 5-8 PM, and drinks and refreshments will be served. Hope to see you there!

An enormous thank you to the wonderfully talented .mcgillivray for giving our gallery shutters a makeover this week! We’re absolutely thrilled with the results, and will be open this weekend from Friday to Sunday between 11-5 PM, if you want to come and see in person.

A reminder that we are also now offering a picture framing service, with a 10% discount offered to all existing Instagram followers for the remainder of June (see previous post for details)

In spite of the weather, our Summer Group Show is now open!
