🔔 Opening in two weeks! New Art Projects is delighted to present a solo exhibition by London-based artist Ian Dawson.

PV: Thursday 10 September, 6–8pm
Open 11 September – 31 October
357 City Road, EC1V 1LR

Featuring new sculptural works, the exhibition explores Dawson's innovative use of 3D printing as an active sculptural process. Bringing together archaeology and digital technology, the works reveal forms shaped through repetition, interruption and reconstruction, where the traces of making remain visible as part of each sculpture's history.

"There's something eerie about Jo Chate’s paintings: a sense of dislocation in time and place, matched with an elusive familiarity, and throughout, a pulse of female strength that feels ancient and surpassed."

In her accompanying essay, Cherry Smyth reflects on Chate's paintings, which draw together Renaissance painting, abstraction and contemporary imagery to imagine new forms of female subjectivity. As Smyth further notes, Chate's work "aims to reflect female subjectivity in a world that often feels post-divine."

On view until 2nd August! Open Thursday to Saturday, and by appointment.

Jo Chate and Janet Sainsbury's duo show continues this week at the gallery. The exhibition includes a selection of Janet Sainsbury’s works on paper, primarily made using watercolour and ink. Sainsbury works from monochrome photographs of artists and writers, adding colour and painterly interpretation to create new readings of these figures.

As Cherry Smyth mentions in her essay, Sainsbury’s portraits “give a visceral sense” of figures who existed on the edges of experience, balancing vulnerability, creativity and resilience. Her process embraces chance and fluidity, allowing the materials to shape the final image and creating works that exist between portraiture, memory and invention.

The exhibition is open until 1 August.
