Through fiction! This weekend Yichun will take you through the dark and dingy corners of our imagined Victorian past as part of our Steampunk Spooktacular.

There will also be plenty of spooky stalls and activities, and a chance to see London's iconic Cathedral of Sewage in action.

Would you like to see more restored engines?

This Appleby engine built in 1895 has been lovingly restored by Graham and the team at Crossness' fitting shop. As well as our magnificent 1865 Beam Engines, Crossness has a collection of smaller engines available to see on our open days, whilst not all are in working order, some have been restored and can be powered by pressurised air.

Who keeps the engines running at Crossness?

We were glad to welcome students from AquariÅs, Vann- og miljøteknikk, NMBU and 慶應義塾 / Keio University.

Have you ever tried this cup and ball game?

We tested some of our volunteers and staff to see if they would rise to the top of the Victorian playground.
Even though this game was most popular in England in the Victorian period, it is actually much older and may date as far back as the 14th century!
