• @the.guards The London Regiment, G (GUARDS) Company specialise in assault pioneering

Assault pioneering is a valuable infantry soldier skill because it allows the frontline to move forward with greater ease by navigating obstacles and leaving others in their wake to slow down enemy forces.

As an assault pioneer, you will be taught how to use specific tools designed to build obstacles, defensive positions, and breach enemy positions, as well as how to conduct mine clearances and use demolition.

• @grenadier.guards The new Regimental Sergeant Major

WO1 (RSM) Bailey originally from Stoke on Trent emigrated to live in Johannesburg, South Africa at the age of ten, with his parents. He is the eldest of two sons. When leaving school started as precision engineer apprenticeship, after fully qualified for a couple of years decided to moved back to the UK in 1998. He decided to change career and join the Grenadier Guards, passing out at Catterick in October 2000.

Bailey had orders to join the Battalion in Pirbright and went on his first 6 months tour to Northern Ireland, Belfast 2001 with Number Two Company. Bailey also took part in Op Fresco during the fire service stricks in the green goddess engines 2002- 2003. Went to Falklands 2003 for a 4 month tour as a L/CPL. Bailey deployed to Bosnia on peace-keeping operations in 2004-5 with Number Two Company and became a L/SGT in 2005. After a short turnaround, deployed to Iraq 2006 on tour Op Telic VIII with Number Two Company. Arriving back and being posted to Nijmegen Company, Woolwich. After the Queens Birthday parade in 2010 Bailey received a posting to Household Division Parachute Regiment Central Courses at Pirbright as an instructor. After two years went to Catterick as an instructor at the All Arms Drill Wing. As a Pay Sergeant in The Queens Company he had the pleasure of going over the Bruni as in 2015 the Gurkhas had served in the British Army for 200 years. They were celebrating in different ways, one included Guard mounting at Buckingham Palace. He instructed the drill and how the presentation of the Queen’s Truncheon to Her Majesty should look. Bailey went on exercise to Denmark, Cyprus and Kenya with The Queen's company also.

• @welshguards CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR COMMISSION SIR

Previous Welsh Guards Regimental Sergeant Major Parry received his commission and promoted to Captain recently. His next role will be the Battalion Welfare Officer.

Starting your career as a Guardsman and making it as a Warrant Officer Class 1 and Regimental Sgt Major is an outstanding achievement on its own but then being selected for LE and becoming a Captain is a momentous occasion in any soldiers career.

Well Done Sir!

• @scots_guards Right Flank have recently enjoyed some Northern Iraqi snow in the Korek Mtn range.

The Scots Guards are currently deployed in Iraq with several other deployments in the near future.

With multiple deployments, a unit move to Catterick, and the BOXER vehicle inbound, it is a great time to be in the Scots Guards.

• @irishguards Throwback Thursday!
St Patrick's Day 2001 as the shamrock is prepared to be handed out to the Regiment.
It is said Saint Patrick used the three-leaved shamrock to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity (the Father, Son and Holy Spirit), to the Irish in the 5th century. The tradition of wearing a shamrock on Saint Patrick’s Day can be traced back to the early 1700s.

Very many congratulations from all @guardsmuseum • @welshguards WELSH GUARDS NEW REGIMENTAL SERGEANT MAJOR

Today we welcome WO1 Cope as our new Regimental Sergeant Major. He has now reached the pinnacle of a soldier’s career.

Becoming the Sarn't Major of the Welsh Guards is a huge achievement representing many years of service and multiple operational tours.

As the Senior Soldier in the Battalion, his many roles will include advising the Commanding Officer on day-to-day running of the Battalion, presiding over the Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess and the providing representation for soldiers in the Battalion Headquarters.

Crucially, he is responsible for the maintenance of the high standards and discipline in Battalion for which the Foot Guards are famed.

Wishing the best of luck to the outgoing WO1 Parry as he becomes a Late Entry Officer and takes up the role of Unit Welfare Officer.

Recently purchased these WW2 medals in original post package - love to know more about Coldstream Guardsman J Woods from Langport.😉
I bought this picture from a charity shop. I asked online and was informed it was the Guards Chapel at the Wellington Barracks. I was wondering if you could provide some information about it. I just wonder about its history.
