ARCHIVE* – NOT FOR SALE -
Occasionally we get little gems come through our hands, and this Heavy Weaponry canvas was undoubtedly one of those special pieces.
Whilst not unique, and from the sought-after Silver Edition of 25, this particular example possessed additional hand-finished detailing which elevated it above many others from the edition. Small nuances such as these are often what collectors look for, giving an artwork a greater sense of individuality despite belonging to a numbered series.
Created in 2005, Heavy Weaponry remains one of Banksy’s most iconic and instantly recognisable images. The juxtaposition of a peaceful elephant carrying a missile perfectly encapsulates the artist’s ability to communicate powerful anti-war and political messages through deceptively simple imagery. As with many of Banksy’s strongest works, the humour draws you in before the underlying commentary reveals itself.
For us, this was one of the finest examples of the small edition Heavy Weaponry canvases we have handled and remains a favourite from our archive.
