June is Gypsy Roma Traveller History Month!

It's is all about all Gypsies and Travellers across West Yorkshire feeling heard and represented and that their culture and heritage is valued.

As part of this, we're excited to be partnering with Leeds GATE's youth club to create a zine about activism and identity for our upcoming It Takes a Community exhibition.

📢 Mural Artist Call-Out

We’re looking for an artist to create a large-scale mural depicting ten objects donated to the museum collection through community collecting.

The mural will celebrate 25 years of community partnerships with Leeds Museums & Galleries, as part of our upcoming exhibition. It will depict the personalities behind the objects, and reflect the diversity of the people of Leeds.

The mural can be illustrative, graphic, abstract or be created from a range of mediums. The design can include the objects themselves or demonstrate how they were used and are represented – it’s up to the artist!

Singer-songwriter Nicky Bray will be teaching us silly songs all about creatures with spikes, including a new one called 'No Spiky No Likey'! Maybe we'll even invent some songs of our own about the animals we see in the museum...
