🌞Ancient Stories and Play Day: Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th of August 🌞

Join storyteller Lizzie Bryant for a magical journey through ancient stories filled with gods and goddesses, dragons and giants, warriors and wizards, wise women and fearless heroes. Drawing inspiration from Britain's ancient landscapes and folklore traditions, Lizzie's lively and interactive storytelling sessions will captivate the whole family.

Between stories, put your skills to the test in the Drakkos Dittir's Heritage Games Tent, where visitors of all ages can discover traditional games and challenges inspired by the past. Try your hand at historic games, learn through play and experience how people entertained themselves centuries ago.

Set against the backdrop of one of Britain's best-preserved Roman villas, this is a fantastic opportunity to combine history, imagination and family fun in a unique heritage setting.

🌞🌞 Join us this weekend for our Living History Event! 🌞🌞

On the 1st and 2nd of August we have an exciting Living History Weekend with superb reenactment groups - Herigeas Hundas, The Vicus and the Butser IX Roman Legion. Across the weekend, the site will be brought to life with the sights, sounds and stories of the our Roman and early Anglo-Saxon and past.

Watch thrilling combat displays, explore the camp and meet costumed re-enactors from the groups, who will be showcasing everything from daily life and crafts to weaponry, skills and traditions. The re-enactors will share their expertise in early Anglo-Saxon life and combat through hands-on demonstrations and engaging storytelling.

There’s plenty for families too, with a range of activities designed especially for children. From interactive experiences to have-a-go moments, it’s a chance for younger visitors to get stuck in and discover history in a fun and memorable way.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply looking for a great day out, this is a fantastic opportunity to see the past brought to life in the beautiful setting of Rockbourne Roman Villa.
